Featured Replies

Idealy you need to say what is actually included? Projector lenses etc...

This will then result in less questions and hopefully more purchases

Let me make this perfectly clear :-

1) I am offering people an opportunity to express an interest in this item only at this stage.

2) I will get any questions asked by those interested an answer by the person who will do the work.

3) Once people have received their answers, this is the opportunity to withdraw any interest.

4) Those remaining will then be offered the lights.

PLEASE stop using this thread to discuss whether they are legal etc etc, and either use the other thread, or start another one.

Thank You.

Surely you want to mention the beam scatter issues and the legal issues surrounding the after market kits.

Is this for the OEM system as from the factory or an after market kit?

Can I please ask the details of the kit and if it is available for the MK II Octy also?

The reason I ask as I was sure you had to have headlamps specifically designed for HID's along with Washers and self levelling to be able to obtain type approval for a specific vehicle as that is the way HIDs are legal in the UK.

Department for Transport - Aftermarket HID (Xenon) headlamps

Specifically this section:

"In summary it is not permitted to convert an existing halogen headlamp unit for use with HID bulbs. The entire headlamp unit must be replaced with one designed and approved for use with HID bulbs and it must be installed in accordance with the rules stated above."

As such I would be extremely interested in how an after market system can be deemed legal as the company can't have obtained type approval without spending a massive amount for every car they wish to support.

If such a kit is available then I would be very interested in it and I know a fabia owner who would be too.

I know this says fabia VRs, but is this fabia only or octy also?
As long as you don't mind getting flashed all the time, stopped by the police, wasting your money when you can't get an MOT or having somebody smash your headlights when you park up after blinding them for a whole journey.

I've started a thread on xenon kits over here:

Aftermarket HID Kits - BRISKODA - The Skoda Forum and Community

Think we probably ought to leave this thread for group buy purposes as the OP requested?

The £300 will be a fitted price and will apparently include a way of making these road legal.

That would require self levelling, headlight washers and type approved headlights for the vehicle.

The £50 kit you have will include nothing but the bulbs and required circuitry. The kit you sourced on ebay is 100% illegal to run in the UK. Not to mention f**king annoying for other drivers as you scatter light everywhere and blind them.

On that Kit E11 refers to the country of origin, ISO 9001 is a standard for writing down a process etc and ISO14001 is a standard for manufacturing, recycling and waste management.

The link I posted above states the DVLA's position on these

Sorry I'm the only one mentioning am I?

Maybe you'd like to have a go at all the others too as well Emily, or do you enjoy singling me out?

I do wonder if the Highways Agency agree with their staff publicly disagreeing with the official position on such activities.

I'm sure me being a `rule book carrying scout` will be irrelevant when somebody crashes into a car fitted with after-market HIDs, because they blinded them Especially when the insurance fails do pay out for illegal or undeclared modifications and not keeping the car in a road worthy condition.

Also, I didn't realise it was Briskoda policy to promote illegal activities.

:finger: I really hope the plod stop you and make you rectify everything on your car. Do you have blue neons and washer lights too. You do realise illegal modifications to your car make your insurance invalid don't you. That means if you get stopped for these or involved in an accident and the other party blames being dazzled and they want to take you to the cleaners you can be looking at driving uninsured.

As for not liking them, no if they are legal, eg OEM retrofit and could be done for the octy II then I'd actually quite like a set.

The washer jets are in the bumper, just so you know.

Uprated bulbs are not illegal, Xenon bulbs in halogen headlamps are.

Having been hit by an uninsured driver who left the scene, i think I'll chose to be insured thanks.

Enjoy the basement.

And I'm going to leave this thread to discuss the potential purchase as the OP asked and hence the other thread that was set up.

Mark, that's ********, stop being such a rule book carrying boy scout.

Oi Mark sometimes you Can be pedantic and quite frankly an annoying snob!! :haha:

Yes I am kindda interested in some lovely xenons.. kinnda smart

if you have xenons on the car they need to be:

1. self leveling

2. With washers as the dirt will distort the beam

Thats all i was told by the garage when i asked about retrofitting them before i ordered my car.

All the police can do if they stop you is either issue your vehicle with a probition order (highly unlikely) to stop you moving till you rectify them or issue you with a 14 day retest ticket. Personally i cant see them doing that unless they are working with vosa who are usually more interested in targetting foriegn truck drivers.

Why don't you come along to Weston and say that to my face Mr Keyboard Warrior!

This is a for sale thread, so I'm not continuing it here, however, like I said before, why don't you come to Weston and say all this.

Mods, can you please delete my posts in this thread as they add nothing to it with the exception of a few which should be obvious.

Thanks

To the OP, i am still interested in the Xenon's!

children, children!!

Is this thread going anywhere? not had a proper nose but has the OP came back with answers yet?

Probably been scared off and I don't blame him.

I've tried an aftermarket HID kit in my Fabia using the standard headlights and TBH it wasnt much cop.

/\ Shame on you !

LOL

It wasn't that bad... I had them in about 2 months and got flashed maybe twice? Once coming over the brow of a hill.

They looked alright but not as good as in projectors, vision was brilliant.

But couldnt arsed with the hassle come MOT.

After looking around for ideas, very interested in the aftermarket xenons, but, I feel I may be a touch late as the last post here was over 4 years ago - did this ever happen??!!

Mines passed without washers or leveling, just make sure the beam pattern is correct.
