Does the cambelt kit include tensioners???

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Time for me to change the cambelt and waterpump on my vRS.

Getting an independent to do it as my local skoda garage (asl lock) wanted £540 to change the belt and water pump!!! My local garage wants £116 for labour and me to supply the parts.

Anyway I've ordered the cam belt kit 12986 from GSF, but does anyone know if this includes the tensioners??

If not, where can I get them from???

Cheers

hi there ive just ordered the same cambelt kit and i was told they were included

hope that helps

The tensioners are included but hydraulic damper isn't (which is a common cause of cambelt failure on the 1.8t)

Is that the big one with the spring in it

It's a cast metal housing with a hydraulic rod thingy sticking out (similar to a boot strut). The seal on the end can die over time which lets the oil leak out, which leads to a loss of tension on the belt.
