seatbelts not retracting

Featured Replies

Hi, am I the only one who has had a problem with this - skoda admit this is a fault on the fabia vrs but will not fix it unless I pay them a small fortune !?

surely this is a safety issue isn't it  anybody had the same?

On the plus side it goes like stink and is great fun to drive.....shame skoda after sales service is so bad:thumbdwn:

Yes I've had the same and got fixed under warrenty, it's something to do with water getting into the reel or fibres on the reel and the eye where the belt pulls through

You might be able to dry the belt and see if that helps. Hair dryer or similar should be fine....

Being very carefull near the seatbelt pretensioners

A squirt of furniature polish on a rag and 'dust' the full length of the belrt can help it too, sometimes dust accumulates and restricts its movement.

Agreed - dirt and lint can cause this. I sprayed a little silicone lubricant on mine - cured it a treat.

mine was bothering me, especially with the added weight of the one-click buckle.

Raising the "eye" bit in the pillar to the top setting helped a lot....

Had one a while back where the upper mounting where the belt slides through was so gummed up with muck that I had to scrape it off with a plastic scraper. If you pull the belt out at the door post before it goes through the upper mounting and it reels back OK then the restriction has to be the upper mounting.

upper mount on mine was causing the belt not to retract. quick clean with polish and now retracts lovely. Its a known fault
