lockable filler cap for vrs?

Featured Replies

 Seen a few cars around with damaged fuel flaps. Can anyone recommend

a lockable alternative for fabia vrs, it seems people gain entry by prising with a

screwdriver. Seen a few 206's around with them on...

You can get the aero filler caps but they require the original flap to be welded to the body and have a big hole cut in it.

You could get a locking cap as used on other Fabias, though it would mean having another key.

I haven't seen any where the cap has been forced, but very many where the release cable has just fallen out.

Not sure about the fuel flap. But you can definitely get a lockable filler cap. See end of post no. 4 for the part no.: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia/fuel-cap-plastic-strap/99767/

Perhaps a discrete exterior sticker labelled "protected by Acme steel lockable fuel cap" on the flap would discourage tampering?

Think I'm stuffed as if I get a lockable filler cap, no one will know its got one

till they've trashed the flap. thanks all anyway.:o

Surely the locking mechanism for the flap can be removed so that it just opens & then folk will see the lockable fuel cap inside? Not sure how to keep the fuel flap closed though....maybe with a spring on the hinge? I'll check how it is on my Polo later on.

Change the flap to non lockable one without the release as fitted to the Classic models. Mind you why go to all that bother of breaking in through the cap when it is quite easy to puncture the plastic tank to get the fuel out.
