Rear Tyre wear on the inside edge!!

Featured Replies

Done 28K and the rear tyres are not far off bald on the inside edge!!

I've never experienced uneaven tyre wear on the REAR wheels before with any car Ive had before!

Anyone experienced the same.

Yes common problem. Happened to me too. Get a 4 wheel laser alignment done. Will solve tyre wear and improve handling. Did for me at any rate :)

I had this but not as much as some have experienced.

I put it down to the fact that for a lot of the major miles I cover I have a boot full of stuff hence the car sits lower on the suspension at the back hence the camber on the rear wheels is slightly out. I may be wrong though?

Keep meaning to get a 4 wheel laser alignment check but never quite get round to it!

It appears to be a common problem on the Octy 2, It a 4 wheel allignment solves the problem it points to the cars coming off the production line badly set up. Skoda should contribute to the cost of the tyres IMO.

Count yourself lucky you managed 28k, i only achieved 12k before totally shot.........as said, get 4 wheel alighnment done once changed.

Its the same issue that affected the Mk5 Golf rears.......very common on wide-tyred models or those fitted with wider rims/rubber (like my Mk5 with BBS CH 18's). If you live any where near Brackley (Northants) - it's not far from the M40 either - get booked in with APS.....they have a Beissbarth rig which they bought from VW. They don't charge a fortune to do a full check and set. Will save you money in the long term and make your car handle better too !!

I had the same problem and have had the wheel alignment checked, which was a mile out! The alignment has been fixed but the fitter also said that the camber angle is out and there does not appear to be an adjustment for that

There must be an adjustment as Skoda had new values for it :)

Found an uneven wear pattern on my rear tyres too, the outer 1/4 of the tyres is badly worn while the inner 3/4 is virtually untouched.

Had nearside rear tyre replaced on Saturday as it was completely bald on the outside edge but unworn in the middle. Had a laser wheel alignment and had the camber values changed to new recommended settings at the same time so I'll have to see how this goess.

18k on mine before they were shot. Skoda not in the least bit interested in tyres or assistance with the costs as I could have caused the mis alignment due the way I drive. I to am booked in for 4 wheel laser alignment but remember you will need this done with the new tyres on, or with minimal wear to be 100% successful. Rear camber values are critical, and are on vRStu's web site Octavia-vrs.com.

Rear camber is adjustable, so remember to book a 4 wheel alighnment as most tyre places with do lased alignment but will not sort the read camber out as it works with front wheels only. The camber value is the critical one for the tyre wear.
