1.8T 150 & 180bhp engines - difference?

Featured Replies

Bumping this one up to give Denis' little project a bit more airplay...

Come on you guys and gals - all he needs is a three-letter word. (Which in Dutch is not a nice thing to ask for, but in English I can get away with it. I think.)

  • 2 weeks later...

Not really a success, is it, Denis? ;)

Nope! But I've got the message - stick to jokes and vRS sightings. grumpy.gif

Have put out some calls in NL - am preparing myself for accusations of utter nerdship and hopefully a couple of serious replies... :D

I would like to build up a list of which gearboxes are mated with which engines and in which models for future reference by Briskoda members. To that end if your gearbox is on the above list of other gearbox codes - and you will probably only know by checking the Vehicle Data sticker under the mat in the boot or on the inside cover of the Service Schedule - could you please post gearbox code, engine code and Octavia model below. The icing on the cake would be for you to provide the Model Description code which is also on the sticker, eg 1U53QX OCTAVIA COMBI ELE, since I can decode that. I know that I am being optimistic in expecting any replies, but if you don't ask you don't get. And when did you last have a look at you car's Service Schedule? :D

Here's another for the list:

1U23Q3 OCTAVIA   SEDAN   ELE

Gearbox/Paint code etc.

FDC 8180     BE 110KW AUM

That's an Octavia 1.8T auto hatchback, in Elegance trim.

  • 3 months later...

Have stumbled on this Dutch site, www.hbase.nl, which happens to have all known engine codes listed (not just the VAG ones!) listed with their respective models and the months and years they were used. Amazing!

Nerds (are you looking at me?) will be drooling over this. :D

And it would turn the above job into a simple exercise... (I'm not going to do it now - look at the time of day :D - but some spare time allowing in the future, who knows.)

edit: url corrected

That is one hell of a great link! Even has pictures of some of the items...

This will probably add more confusion, but the 4motion TDi 130 passat uses quite a lot more fuel than the FWD 130 - does that pass the emissions regs. The more fuel you burn the more particulates you produce - relatively speaking ?

On the above subject of 4motion TDI130 passats ;

I can verify that mine now averages 39.7 mpg in mixed running. On the motorway it's nearer 50mpg and around town more like 35. I'm strangely quite happy at that - permanent proper 4wd and 229 lb/ft of torque 'and' 40 mpg all at the same time :D

Bang on

My A4 110 (chipped to 136bhp/ 227lb/ft) Tdi quattro did 39mpg over 30,000 miles

Rob

Well found, Mattijs. I'm about to ask SWMBO if I can take her laptop to bed tonight so that I can examine that site at my leisure! :D

:( PS - she said: No!

That's German engineering for you then - nothing if not consistent. I have to say I'm welllllllllll impressed so far.

Oh, bum!

All I see is a screen which says "<%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %>"

The page source isn't much more enlightening, either...

Not very non-Microsoft browser/Operating System friendly, then :(

Mike, despite the unfriendly appearance, the site is a wealth of information. Although you might want to brush up on your Dutch :D

do i see a translation request coming on?:D
