Nut Caps/Covers vanishing on Alloys?

Featured Replies

just wondering is it a regular thing for these to go missing, or are little sh!ts around here taking the little silver caps that cover the nuts on the pegasus alloys. had one missing last week thought fair enough it must have been loose, secured the rest and then this weekend i have about six missing!

Looks like the local little darlings are nicking 'em! They are pretty cheap to replace, but annoying none the less.

Hate to spread panic, but won't this be the first stage of nicking the alloys? so they can see locking nut?

Mine fell off during my first few weeks of ownership so I replaced them with a black VW version found on Mk4 GTIs. They don't fall off and look much better.

just had a call from a customer saying one of his has gone awol. only picked the car up a week ago!

ive got a little stash of them for such ocassions ;)

 I am of course pulling one's leg ;)

They're usually little sh1ts to get off are they not?

I just about failed to get SWMBOs wheel off because of the caps. Hers doesn't have the removal tool.

After the issue I had with a missing locking wheel nut I changed the OEMs for a set of McGuard Ultras. Got a good review (somewhere) so I thought better safe than sorry. Tire fitter once told me OEM locking nuts are easy to get round they just hammer a socket onto them.

lol good thing you said , i had just started to ready the tools to borrow some more nut covers ;)

Just spoken with the guys at Skoda Parts, Original Skoda Parts Online, International Delivery (having bought bits from them previously.

They can provide the standard nut caps for 63p inc VAT and locking nut caps for 76p inc VAT each. That would make a set of 16 + 4 caps £10.08 inc VAT plus P&P.

Ebay sellers are (naturally) cheaper.

I'll happily swap my wheel nut covers for a set of B14's

I'll nick a set from Mr. Spatulas' forecourt

You can get Skoda emblem ones which use a small Allan key to tighten them up, should stop them being nicked and should look Ok on your motor as they are chrome.Company called Richfords or similar name!!

Sorry but too bling for me! Think of what they will look like on the end of a black valve stem.

Read the description again - they are not just a dust cap, they include a nice chrome sleeve that slides over the black valve stem

Ah; OK; sorry! :o

Mind you, I'm not a fan of chrome but they could well be good protection for the normally flexible rubber valve stem. Not a bad accessory really.

Had a call from the guy who owns my old car today asking where to get these covers, one was taken from his at Liffey Valley he reakons, the one that covers the Lock nut.

Is it the Leprechauns nicking yours? Oops; sorry! :o

Full sets are still available on ebay here;- Audi / VW / SEAT / Skoda Wheel Lug Nut Caps/Bolt Covers on eBay, also, Seat, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 01-Feb-08 16:28:23 GMT)

I've just bought a set for my 'winter wheels' and, as I'm using McGard locking nuts, have ordered the 25mm (4F0) covers for these (hope they fit).
