How do I remove brake drums?

Featured Replies

Hello,

2001 Skoda Fabia 1.4MPI 50K, drums on the rear. Rear brakes have started making a grinding noise and I need to remove the drums to investigte. I removed the small counter sunk phillips type screw on the drum and released the handbrake. Drum rotates freely, but I cannot remove the drum. I suspect it has rusted to the hub but I cannot find a way to budge it. I did the pads and disks last year and the disk were also rusted to the hub but I could easily hit it with a hammer to release them. Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
