retrofitted cruise control

Recommended Posts

I would very much like to have cruise control on my 02 fabia diesel elegance estate. I beieve it is offered as an option when the vehicle is first supplied but not many secondhand vehicles (that I have seen, anyway) seem to have it. Various lists suggest it comes as a standard fitment but this does not seem to be the case. Does anyone know how much retrofit would cost, and who could do it?

Depends on the ECU. Not all of them can accept cruise control.

I've never come across one myself and I've done a few ;).

There are some Central Electronics units that aren't suitable - Only ever seen one of those and that was on an 07 plate 1.4TDi Bohemia.

Hi folks,

I'm getting cruise control fitted to my Fabia vRS tomorrow @ John Mulholland motors in Randalstown, here in Norn Iron. The car was booked in for its yearly service and I enquired about the possibility of having it fitted.

£130 (parts and labour) plus VAT. For once, i'm not paying over the odds!!!!!!!!

We have looked in to this and it seems to be the central convenience ECU

6Q0 and 6Q2 are ok

6Q1 is a no no IIRC

Sarah

Nearly but no Cigar this time Sarah :P

6Q2 does not support Cruise Control.

6Q1 and 6Q0 are both fine.

Nah 100PD Comfort

I could not afford to insure the vRS because of my points :(

Had 6 then nearly gained another 9 on top in 1 week Ooops

I have satnav now with the camera warnings

But points gone now , I have it mapped to 141bhp lowered , with ARB`s and wowww it is fantastic

But no cruise for me

Sarah

Few days ago my cruise control set arrived, so today I mounted it in my car. It was really easy - 2-3 h.

Maybe tomorrow I'll have the chance to test it... with a friend of mine today also put together and the gearbox, so I hope tomorrow to be the big test day :)

here some pics... sorry for the quality but my camera wasn't with me

I had mine retro-fitted by the dealer. I bought an 04 plate vRS from my local dealer forecourt and it cost me £65 plus an hours labour.

They did say that it took them twice as long to fit as they hadnt done one before! It is however an official Skoda aftermarket fit option.

It is on the Skoda site and the parts cost £65. So its whatever labour the dealer decides to add on. You have been lucky as they quoted you 1 hour and took 2. they either will charge more next time or hope th same bloke gets it and gets quicker.

The moment of the operation that took most of my time was connecting the white wire to 11a/PIN 10. If only I had my switch when the dashboard was down... :). The other strange thing was that there already was fitted white cable... maybe before the dealer make it race car there was a cruise control switch... the lights switch that I removed to fit new was '03 year, and my car is '99 :)

Does anybody know what modification is necessary to do on the control if the version of board network control is 6Q2?

There is a white cable in one side, it goes across to the engine ECU (where I orginally found it when I did my first one years before the kit was out). Was yours allready wired between the pin 10 and the network control then? As far as we know if yourcontrol unit is 6Q2 it cant be done.

There was a white cable in pin 10, but I don't know where it is going. I hope that on the other side there is white cable too going to the ECU. I was surprised to find that PIN10 is not free.

I'm with 6Q1 but in the manual of switch there is info that you have to modify the switch to fit on 6Q2 (http://harrier.marmalad.com/skoda/6.jpg)

Off topic: Did you know where I can find some codes for tweaking controllers.. I remember when we were racing the guys form Skoda changed our steering sensitivity and so on..
