New Exhaust

Featured Replies

Is on!!

Had a change of plans at the last minute and it's ended up not having a sports cat - it's been de-catted instead!!

The car now revs a lot free-er(s?), and sucks like a large hoover. It's also got that lovely turbo whistle now.

Overall, pretty impressed.

And yes, I wanted it to look standard.

Looks nice. I'm considering a full stainless setup with sports cat. Do you reckon it's made much difference to bhp/torque?

Possible a smidgen more bhp combined with PD160 and K&N.

It's definitely a happier engine though - it's reving so fantastically.

I was advised NOT to remove the cat due to turdo spike etc

Let me know how it runs in a few months or so......might de-cat as well lol

Can you provide some more details on the exhaust? I'd like something more freeflowing as well, but want it to look as stock as possible.

If the turbo blows...............................get a bigger turbo :D

I ran my Golf TDI with a de-cat for a year with no probs so I'm assuming this will be the same.

It was custom made at Powells Performance in Pool using Eurosport supplies. It cost £190. Other than that, I can't think of anything else to mention about it!!

Cool! Think i'll go speak to my stainless steel guy tomorrow lol But if it blows DJ, i'll hunt you down and KEEEEEELLLLL YOOOOUUUUU! lol lol lol lol lol jk mate cheers for the advice. Top bloke!

I can ask and see if they'll be interested in manufacturing a batch to sell on here.

Not yet, popping in tomorrow. Been having problems with work.

what are the emmissions like without the cat on?

Don't know, but as it's a diesel it doesn't matter.

Good man! :D

WIll de-catting the exhause effect the MOT at all?

Shouldn't do because diesels don't work on emissions at the MOT, they work on the amount of soot they throw out.

My golf went through it last MOT on an emissions fast pass - that had just a pipe from the manifold through to the back box.

It is illegal to run a car without a Cat.

An MOT test for diesels is based on "soot" rather than emissions and an MOT can be failed for not having a Cat

HTH

Not what I was told by my MOT testing mate.

Not saying it "would" be failed, just that it can be failed!! ;)

My point is that a de-cat is illegal. If you're happy to live with the fact that come MOT time you might have to either "re-cat" or know an MOT tester that will "put it through" to pass then it's all good.

Sorry for the short, aggressive response, I've been having a hard time a work.

Anyhoo, as far as I'm aware as long as it gets through the emissions test you can have a de-cat.

As for them manufacturing a batch, they are saying that they can't due to each exhaust being custom made. I said could they not just "custom make" 5 of the same ones, and they said not.

Anyone that wants one is invited to book an appointment with them though!! (And they will do an exhaust with a sports cat instead of a de-cat for £250).

How much for a cat back system? As already have a decat

You would be looking around the £150 mark.
