if aftermarket can you please state what youve got and if you had any problems installing them.

My Octavia II has the standard 8 speakers, very good when the source is fettled to exploit them fully.

right guys im installing a dvd head unit today powering 50w per 4 channels. what units do you have and what could i fit if you know of any for the octy 1 that you had wished u'd bought

I'd recommend looking and thinking about it and picking out a handful that strike you, then coming home and looking on the net, as you will nearly always save quite a bit of money online, even when the delivery is added on. It also gives you an opportunity to search for and read reviews.

I would also recommend going for one of the well known brands. Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer, JVC etc. Definitely avoid the cheapies. But I suppose it depends on your budget.

ive been reading a lot of reviews already but its the mounting depth thats putting me off sum. i really want audiobahn but they are deep. so im gauging what others ahve then i know what fits

I fitted deep speakers you only have to remove some metal in the door with a dremmel its quite easy.

Your Rainbows aren't massively deep though, are they?

I was going to get the SLX625 Deluxe

If i remember they are 65/66 mm they are cs 265 profi phase plugs.Mine are about 4mm deeper than the ones you mentioned.I have fitted several sets of rainbows to other peoples cars and they are excellent would reccomend to anyone including the £100 models and the £450 set that i have.

any other models ppl have fitted into their octavias with no hassle

I have infinity 552is in the front and 652is in the back (with the help of the dremmel) All running straight from a PIONEER DEH-P5900MP

Stabdard speakers in my Octy, would love to hear about any fettling with the MFD2 to improve sound quality though :)

I fitted Alpine SPX 177r's with little work. bit of brute force of the door and some twisting and they fitted well.

any more???

I got some infinitys which fit straight in the front doors. They were supplied with a very thin spacer which made then simple to fit.

I can't remember the model number but I hve the box in the loft, pm me if you desperate and I'll have a look later.

In fact I think I have posted the model number up before so a search may help you find the number

im thinking that i may just buy the best ones i can on budget.

Always a good idea with audio, buy the best you can afford. But don't scrimp on installation, make sure they are fitted well. I'm sure the saying goes something like '10% product, 90% install'.

I tried 4 pairs of speakers in the front doors before I found some that fit. Eventually settled on exilpe xp65 componants, which cost around £200. They're a relatively unknown brand started by two of the top designers formerly and Pheonix gold, and sound great. They fit straight in as they use very shallow Neodium magnets.

Let me know if you want any more info. Rooster.
