How to detail a Black Magic Fab, please help

Featured Replies

Right not really getting the finish i want on the car at the minute, only lasts a week or so:rofl:

Basically this is my routine

1. Hose car down with cold water

2. Wash car with Meguires Shampoo and Sheepskin Wash Mitt

3. Rinse Car

4. Dry car with Turtle Wax Pro Drying Towel

5. Apply Harley Carnaubua Wax (sp) with microfibre cloth

6. Buff of Wax with microfibre cloth.

Then thats it....

So basically in

washing

and then

wax

Ive been reading a few threads and i believe i should be doing this

wash

clay

wash

polish (2 coats) - i have Autoglym SRP to do this bit if needs be

Seal with sealant

then apply wax??

If thats right i need a good claybar and a sealant?

Am i on the right tracks here??

dont forget to use 2 buckets when washing the car. one to rinse off the wash mit.

the clay bar helps get rid of the fallout and leaves the car glass smooth.

i thought it was clay bar, polish, wax myself?

basically correct, although you'll only need to clay the car maybe twice a year, once in the spring to get rid of winter crap and once in the autumn to prep it for winter.

sealant is optional...you can go from polish to wax.

SRP is very & hiding paint defects so 1 coat should suffice.

HTH:)

I have SRP dude.

Got some info from a detailer.

Just bought some Megs Quick Clay from Ebay and some Poorboys SSR1 polish (get rid of the swirls)

Have also been recommended Collinite 4?? for long lasting wax, he said there was no need for a sealant

a sealant isnt needed really some say that it just adds to the finish

Yeah ive seen that, how much it cost you?

The lad who recommended it to me said he would do me a full paint correction for much cheapness :)

275 but that includes full valet inc interior and scotch guard and full lifeshine with 10 yr warranty and after sales pack.

Collinite 476S is a good recomendation if you want durability...this is a paste wax, there's also 845 if you want liquid:thumbup:

I have just got back into the detailing scene and a big help would be a pressure washer and a foam lance. They make the whole job MUCH easier.

What I do:

Wheels first

Megs wheel brush,EX wheel brush, Menzerma or P21s wheel cleaner

Fully cleaned and rinsed

Snowfoam time!

Using Autobrite lance and Supa Snow foam + CG Maxi Suds !!

Leave on for 5 mins and then rinse

Washing

CG Citrus wash

Two buckets with grit guard

Lambswool mit

Then rinse

Drying

Miracle Dryer

Numerous microfibre clothes

(My car has just been paint corrected and detailed by Glyn O'Donnel who did a stunning job - so no need to clay or cleanse at the moment)

Waxing

Apply Swissvax Onyx wax all over car and leave (Some Zymol Destiny :D is arriving soon )

Misc

Whilst wax is curing, dry wheels, apply Jetseal 109 (leave for 15 mins and buff off)

Also dry all shuts and interior door bits and apply Jeffs Prime Strong

Polish exhaust with Megs NXT metal polish or AG polish

Clean windows with P21s glass cleaner

Hoover car

Dust interior

Apply AG fragrance

Buff off wax

Final Touch 1-2 hours later

Mist Zymol Field Glaze over paintwork and buff off :D

Result - something like this
