Neuspeed Lower Intercooler Pipe

Featured Replies

Just to let you know that they dont fit the Octavia VRS.

Put mine on saturday morning and it lasted 2 hours :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn:

Looked fine when jacked up. Took it out for a spin. Turbo Spool up was a bit quicker. Started to hear a knocking noise when going slow. Jacked up car to find the Tie bar for the anti roll bar had warn a chunk of the pipe away. Took it off this morning to find it has gone all the way through. Can se daylight from inside.

Guy at powerflow said he will make me one to fit for around

Ouch :(

Would an ABD have fitted?

Would an ABD have fitted?

YES!!....and it's shiny

YES!!....and it's shiny

I tried to look for more info on these, but they seem not much used. What benefits are these over stock? Less lag in lower RPM?

So what engine was that Neuspeed lower intercooler pipe designed to fit?

Am now into 'search and pursuit' mode...

Stock and ABD side by side.

The Neuspeed pipe is for a Golf 1.8T.

Maybe because my car is so low. The lower tie bar was actually touching the pipe when the car was stationary. Looking at the ABD one it is the same shape as the Neuspeed item.

Has anything changed on the later cars

Looks like it will be a powerflow job then :(

I had the same problem on my A3 TQ (ARX). It appears that these weren't designed to take into account the different droplinks (I'm assuming the Octavia also uses the longer droplinks which connect UP to the struts). The Golf IIRC has the shorter droplinks which connect DOWN to the ?Control Arm?. Anyway, I managed to catch mine BEFORE it wore through and filled it with some metal epoxy, sanded and painted it so it looked good as new (Can't do THAT with the ABD pipe  ) and attempted to fit it differently, to no avail. The droplink bolt still finds a way to rub through :(

So IMHO I'd recommend saving y'all's money until someone makes one for us :smashfrea

i'm guessing that the OE pipe is flattened to cause a restriction but to also stop other parts from touching it. the ABD one does look the same shape as the one Pauls gone through but looks a slightly smaller diameter so this could be the way to go, saying that if the guy at powerflow can knock em out for

Octys have a TT front roll bar not a golf one hence anything that sits near to the ARB needs to be check for fit.. you may well fint that the TT part from neuspeed fits exactly;)
