Aux-in jack in stream radio

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I need help. Anyone could explain to me how to select the aux in source in my stream radio when connected an mp3 player to the mini-jack port in the jambobox.

I have a late 2006 non mp3 radio, no CDC. I set to ON the Aux option in the menu but I can't ear any sound from the mp3 player: sounds came only from radio and CD player.

Thanks.

Regards

CarloDSG

I think you press the CD button twice, the first press selects the CD in the HU, and the second press should switch it to the aux in.

It doesn't work, the first press selects the CD in the HU and the second press lights the message "NO CDC". A third press recall the CD and so on. What's wrong?

You may need to go into the menu and when you see the "AUX" option. Change it to yes! Then you should get the option come up when you press the CD button a few times!

I have already set the AUX option to ON but id doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Hit it.............really hard! With your fist!

It works for me with most other electrical items!!!!

Sorry I couldn't be constructive! I've already tried my best with the earlier post!:P

Thanks for your efforts. My last chance is my dealer.

Hello. Different stereo and different Aux-in adaptor but I used to get that message when the adaptor lost its earth... so doesn't get any power... it used to happen a lot until I velcro'd the thing in place so it couldn't strain the earth cable when moving about under braking!

I have a late 2006 non mp3 radio,

Does a Non Mp3 radio work with a Aux in Jack ? I thought only the Stream Mp3 Radios had this function. Is the wrong radio in your car?

Hey CarlosDSG - check out this thread of mine from a while back

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/octavia-ii/when-did-aux-socket-mp3-stream-come/88626/

I sounds like you might be having exactly the same problem. Do you know whether your car is actually the 2007 model year (if late 2006, it probably is). I wonder whether there were a couple of mis-builds re: the aux socket/stream radio. The dealer still hasn't been able to explain what happened to mine to this day.

Dear Guinness, very interesting thread. Your conjecture might be true: my car was first registered by the dealer himself on july 2006 (like your car!).

Some clarifications, please: how can I be sure that my HU is a non MP3 model? have you solved the problem with the aux in jack?

The mp3 model is clearly marked "STREAM MP3" at the top-right (just above the CD slot). The non-mp3 one is just marked "STREAM".

Bear in mind that Skoda UK insisted that the non-mp3 version would still support an AUX-IN connection, but after a lot of research and help from this forum, I'm almost certain this is not the case and I was being fobbed off.

I did get mine sorted in the end, but only by the dealer ordering and fitting the new STREAM MP3 head unit. I was told that since I had proved my case beyond all doubt, the dealer would take the cost and attempt to claim it back on warranty from SUK (to save me waiting around). I've not found out whether they ever did succeed in a warranty claim for it.

Are you still under warranty? If so, the best solution is probably to just say to them "My AUX socket doesn't work", and plant the seed in the their minds that you have researched that it cannot work with the non-mp3 stream. Then leave them to it. They'll have no choice but to change the radio to get it working.

Thank you Guinness,

I will follow your precious advice (fortunately the car is still under warranty). I'll keep you informed about the devolpments.

Best regards.

Very good news!!

Skoda Italy has recognized the mistake: the wrong radio has been mounted in my car. A new Stream Mp3 HU will be installed within a week, under guarantee.

Thank you very much for the help.

Great stuff CarlosDSG! I only wish it had been so easy in the UK!

  • 1 month later...

I picked up my new (15 month old) Octavia 2.0TDi Elegance about two hours ago, and I'm rather annoyed at the dealer.

I didn't test drive the car I bought. I test drove a car with the Stream MP3 HU and the Aux-in connector in the arm rest. Unfortunately that car was sold while I was on the test drive, but the dealer had a car that apart from colour was identical to the car I drove and was the same age (on a 56, it even had fewer miles). Colour didn't bother me so I was happy to buy the one they didn't sell while I was on the test drive. Before I signed on the dotted line I asked them to confirm that it had the Aux-in, but it didn't (so not in fact an identical spec car as they claimed), but said the HU played MP3. The price was right, and I could still play MP3s, so ahead we went!

As I'm sure some of you may have guessed, my HU does not play MP3 files as it's a standard stream unit. It's entirely my fault, I should have checked it myself and not accepted the dealers word.

So, I have no use for the 6-Disc changer in the boot, and I have no Aux-in for my iPod, and a non MP3 compatible HU. What do I do? Can the standard stream support the Aux-In, can I get an iPod adapter to replace the CDC, and should I go completely wild and get an MFD2 would the reverse parking sensors and climate functions still be supported?

Apologies for the long first post, but despite being happy with the car I'm rather annoyed that I can't use my iPod or even a CD with MP3's, and I'm looking for the most sensible solution.

Conor, a new and hopefully soon to be happy Skoda convert.

How is it entirely your fault?

If they said it would have mp3 it should have mp3. Contracts do not have to be written down.

Remind the dealer nicely that it would have mp3. If not go to Skoda UK.

Wow, quick reply!

I didn't notice the problem until I got into the car to drive away from the dealer. I did point out that it wasn't the HU he said it had, but at that point it all seemed to late to me. Had I noticed that it wasn't the MP3 version I would still have bought the car, I'm not Mister Confrontational. I'm Mister walk away and never go back.

To be honest once I realised it didn't have the Aux-in that I really wanted, I had already moved on to how would I get my iPod to work, the MP3 compatible HU was just a stop gap measure until I could sort out a long term solution.

I will probably write a letter to Skoda UK to complain, but I'm not expecting anything to come of it. At the end of the day I want an iPod connector not an MP3 compatible HU, but it has taken the shine of my new car rather more quickly then I had expected.

You can buy an Ipod adaptor that connects via the CD changer connector, sounds like that might resolve your problem and it could be worth asking the dealer to supply and fit it under the circumstances FOC.
