Cheap wax suggestions??

Featured Replies

I have just read another thread regarding polish and wax, I have found out that wax is a sealant which polish aint. I have so many different polish products so thought I better try waxing my car! Can anyone recommend a cheap wax for a silver car! Is AUTOGLYM sealant the thing Im looking for?? thanks for your help

Meg's Gold Class should do you good

megs gold is really only great on darker coloured paint cars. whats your budget when you say cheap?

poorboyz natty's blue paste wax blinding on silver cars every time - won best MK5 using it at ultimate dubs in 07 dropped only 2 points on S&S and not stupidly expensive either.

Agreed, Collinite or Poorboys would be a great choice, I would not bother with Mr Muscle, sorry Autoglym ;-)

Turtle Wax original is good.

Cheap to me is spending about £15. Iv have been using Extreme Nano-Tech Polishing Wax but I assume this is a polish really and need a sealant??? Turtle Wax

Meguiars Gold Class is more of an all in one type product and works as a sealant and wax it gave me nice results but the wax isn't the best for lasting a long time.

You could use this then use a better quality wax on top. The good thing about the Megs is that it's easy to apply and remove and doesn't leave much dust.

Agree turtle wax original is good value for money £6.99 I think when I last bought it and that was a year ago and has lasted.

you can pick up poorboyz for under £15 from a few sites - i think serious performance have a special deal on at the moment on said product. plus this stuff smells delish!

On silver I use:

- Megs DC1 cleaner (£7.99 from halfords)

- 2 coats of Turtlewax Gloss Guard sealant (£6.99 from halfords)

- 2 coats of colli 476s (£18ish kit from elite car care)

That IMHO looks great on VAG silver paint, and only thing I've done since I applied it was to top up the wax on the bonnet after cleaning up a bird bombing.

got a new bottle of autoglymm aqua wax tonight from halfords, comes with a cloth too and does a good job also being easy to apply etc.

The Nano-Tech stuff is as good as anything, naver mind what the anoraks say.

Two coats, 24 hours apart, will last for a couple of months with a good wash every week.

I am now using Halfords own car wash-n wax stuff. it's half the price of the 'good stuff' and just as good, if not better than most.

Trust me, I know..........

Poorboy's Natty doesn't last very well.

Collinite is the best value for money.

:+1: For 476S.

I use the Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine polish, then Poorboys polish and sealant, 2 coats of 476S and a final coat of 915. If you are after some simple protection just go straight to double coats of 476S after you have polished - job done.

A tin of 476S will last you ages and it's a reasonable price on the fleabay most of the time.

Collinite 915 is even better.

476S might not be quite as good as 915 but the former lasts much longer than the latter. Good for people that can't wax their cars as often as others but want protection on their paintwork.

DC1/GG/1 coat of Colli 476s done by hand on a silver octy.

These pic was taken late at night once I had done before I went to brugge for xmas and the car hasn't had much apart from an occasional wash done to it and still looks great post wash :)

Will try get some better ones up

Auto glym superresin polish then auto glym extra gloss reotection, polished swirl correction and sealed.

Occasionaly I use T-Cut wax. Restores scrathches and leaves a lovley finish

Still not as good as anything by Autoglym, but cheap enough.

Poorboy's Natty doesn't last very well.

Collinite is the best value for money.

disagree on poorboyz still using the same tub from 2006 and if used properly with a sealant keeps the car topped up for months.

this is what i love about forums you learn about so much new stuff from a whole host of ppl who try stuff :)
