Lada returning to the UK

Featured Replies

I read in an Autocar magazine that Ladaa may be making a comeback to the UK thanks to Renault.

Anyone confirm this?

Did see a pic last year of one of those new Lada's, but dont know if the brand will re-appear in the UK.

At least they could be the butt of the old jokes and take the pressure off our cars :D

The concept in Autocar is lush!

Just found a pic that I posted last March...

Can't remember what show it was. Is this the car in Autocar?

That's the one I found when I Googled Autocar and Lada. As well as a site saying they nicked all of the design from VAG :D

Can't imagine why they might say that.

Looks more like a Ford Focus

I had read about this, if they produce a car like that then I would buy one.

If it's the pieces I'm thinking of, you may be confused. There is one suggesting that Lada might be coming back, and another one suggesting that Renault might start offering their Dacia brand here.

Crikey , they still sell the Niva!

I love Nivas and remember driving them in the snow up in the North East many years ago. Brilliant off road cars.

In Denmark they sell the Lada Easy. Kind of cute, resembles the Felicia a bit:

New cars are rather expensive in Denmark, the Lada is £11,400 to be compared with a new Fabia 1.2: £12,600

Half of the cars on the lada website look like something else..

The Samara in hatchback form looks like a austin meastro

The 110 looks like a citroen ZX

The Kalina looks like a polo/fabia saloon

The Priora looks like a focus front bolted onto a vectra back

Not bad looking either; reminds me a bit of a SAAB 9000, with a 99/900 style clamshell bonnet.

You are kidding.. its feckin awful!

If they are cheap enough, I think you could make a track day car very cheaply

If they were cheap enough then people wanting a new basic car would be tempted.

Something golf sized for six grand would find buyers for example

I think people on a budget will be looking at Hyundai TBH :)

A 7 year warranty on some of their products must count for a lot :)

I thought one of the Ladas loked like a City Rover and the pic Swedish has put up reminded me of the citrroen XM

I read that they use older Renault tech. If they plan to "do a Skoda" then going older may not work as the Fabia came out using the new Polo platform before the Polo and Ibiza did.

Did VW just say heres the Polo platform, build something and lets take a look at it?

Daewoos used old Vauxhall tech and they only really sold the cars cause they were cheap and loaded with goodies.

The Polo was built on the Fabia platform :)

It looks great and would make a great everyday runaround if they could offer it at a competative price. I have seen the Dacia Logan in France and it sells very cheaply and looks smart. i did read that it would not be "fnanacially viable" to bring them to the u.k though. Engineering to take right hand drive I suppose.

The Niva, brilliant little thing but most send back to Russia or rusted to powder by now.:)

They haven't changed much in 20 years.

Both the Niva 4x4 and the new Logan's are for sale in all of the Balkans. In fact on a recent trip to Belgrade I would say 1 in 5 new cars were Logan's. However here in Croatia its probably Skoda that are more widely sold, certainly it seems every 3rd car seen is a Skoda, or is that what one normally finds when you are driving one.
