Good price for first service?

Featured Replies

Mine's about due for it's first service and I was initially quoted £240 by Silbury Skoda

I called Benfield Volkwagen who quoted £139 and also said they'd match any price within a 5 mile radius.

What are other people's experiences of the cost of a first service?

Not strictly relevant to Skoda but you really must haggle about servicing prices. My wife's Honda Jazz is due its's first service and she's had quotes at various dealers ranging from £179 to £137. The most convenient dealer quoted £159 so she told them she'd had a quote for £137. Without a moments hesitation they agreed to do the service for £137.

Hi,been quoted £185 and £235 by my two local dealers, for a VRS Tdi

VRS TDi - first service. Long life. £160 inc vat

:)

Octavia sport fsi. I got my first variable service at hadwins vw in lindale, cumbria. They are now authorized skoda service and repair.

Was quoted £170 but when i picked car up bill was £123.

I got free servicing on mine, well for the first three services anyway. Thought this was a long term offer?

Is that on fixed 10k miles services , or variable?

So did I :D

shall I get my coat now?

It's supposed to be on variable but the service indicator displayed at around 10k which made me think it had not be set to variable at pdi. My dealer reset it for 20k but I think that's a bit to far to go before the first service so I'm going to get it done soon.

My first variable service due in 3k mles, been quoted £165 all in, £175 all in & £225 all in, £225 is with Pilling Skoda, I will get car serviced there as they will give me 50% discount for all the problems I have experienced & the way I got treated, but they bloody expensive.

About £110 for first fixed annual service. Clarion Cars Worthing, where I bought the car. 2.0FSI Hatch

That's a good price expecially for the south. Perhaps they have to keep the prices down for the pensioners round that area? ;)

A little off topic, but does anyone know what the range is between min and max possible mileages on variable?

Ha, ha - maybe [i'm nearly one of them anyway!]

But they are an ex main dealer, now a "specialist" dealer.

I suppose the more reasonable they keep their costs, the more likely you are to go back, both for work and new cars.

BTW, second fixed annual last year was £183, but much more done of course. On first service I hung around, watched and chatted to staff.

But on second one they gave me a courtesy heap and I disappeared for the day.

I should add I didn't want the very pricey 0-30 oil; they said all I needed for my 9K miles a year was Millers semi synthetic, and it seems fine.

I'll probably buy my own oil as I'd imagine I can get it cheaper than they supply it for!

Mine was £18 + vat for 4.5 ltr of Millers

thought they had fixed costs now?

I was quoted about 170 quid from benfield skoda in Newcastle for my first service..its not that bad when I consider thats it actually once every 20 months or so instead of once a year

Jonno, this is quite timely as the spanner has just appeared on the dashboard for the second service. I was going to simply go with Silbury but will now compare their costs to Benfield. Cheers.

Me too (only have a 1.6 FSI) but they billed VW for just £59.

The first service strikes me as a bit of a fiddlle really - an oil change and a look round. But you can't not have it done!

Note that it was Benfield Volkswagen NOT Benfield Skoda that I got the quote from. Benfield Skoda aren't the best for customer service IMO.

170 euro for my vRS Tdi. quite happy as my wife sister paid 385 euro for her VW Jetta. I nearly died. i'm still waiting to have a look at what her service actually did. 28klms on the clock only. I always tell them not to replace anything unless they ring me first otherwise I will not be paying.

This will scare you all, slightly ot had the LR serviced today at a good specialist, few bits replaced. All for £700.

I think 9300 to 18600 before the service indicator comes on. When it was first introduced on the facelift MK I Octavia some were coming in with 25000 where the service indicator had just come on.

easy to see where the dealers make their fast money. 700 sterling is nearly a 1000 euro jasus i've have to go a get a loan to pay it.
