Traded up....

I've gone and bought a VW Tiguan after great test drive in the 2.0 TDI auto, as per my test notes. The common rail diesel engine really is great both in terms of it's quietness and the way in combination with the autobox that it puts its power down.

I have a long wait though, should be ready for me June time so still plenty of Roomster driving for me.

It came out too late for me when I was looking at changing my car, as I would have considered it very seriously. Looks like a very nice car:thumbup:

Congratulations! Can't see how you won't be tickled pink for quite some time with this new toy.

Help me out here doesn't the the 2.0CR-170 get the DSG?

Oh & please give us an update at least on how you find this engine, after you've had it a while. As we'll be expecting to see it shortly in the Skoda range as well.

We have had our demo Tiguans at work a while now.... absolutly stunning cars and 2.0TDI is fantastic.

Good buy, you will love it. Did you get panoramic sunroof? Love it!

Yep and I also went for the Dynaudio. Pricey combo though. BTW, I bought the Sport model. Also the auto gearbox is not DSG, just a straight-forward auto tiptronic box, as I understand it the torque on the 170tdi will rip the gearbox apart so a 140tdi auto is the only diesel auto combination available. Which also means no remap, not that I'll complain!

Hope you like it more than Autocar did! Although their main criticsm is of the 1.4TSI engine so you should be ok :)

Cool advert though.

Autocar famously wrote a report on the Tiguan without even testing the car, including information on a 2litre PD TDi, when in fact all Tiguan's have the newer common rail engine, as such they slated the engine for it's NHV levels.

Perhaps their report on the TSI engine is also fabricated.

I often wonder the same about other car mags actually, especially What Car have lots of factual innaccuracies, wrong photos e.t.c.

Does the 150BHP 1.4TSI have the supercharger though? They seemed to think there was no low down torque and economy was also poor.

Can't really comment on the TSI but the 150 variant gets good reviews in the Golf. To tell the truth low down torque in anything but a diesel is goign to be poor in comparrison.
