Handles better than the Octy, is quieter, quicker and smoother but doesn't rev as much (obviously!) oh, and it's MUCH better on fuel!

aside from the fact that it's got two too many doors (:P) mk5 Golf's a generally nice looking car

Mk 5 Golfs are great.That looks great.

Got one serious criticism of Mk5's though irrespective of model.Rear indicators.Can't blooming see them when they are on! Few times I have only noticed them at the last minute
