power steering blow back

Featured Replies

Hello,

has anyone else had the power steeering fluid blown out of the breather hole in the reserve filler cap with enough force to empty the reserve? (and cover all the offside of the engine bay). The steering is fine but very noisy unless I refill the reserve which emptys in about 10 miles.

This started with a whine from the belt, then a bearing failure type noise now this.

Any advise would be gratefully received.

Thanks Doris

I would say that the feed pipe to the pump from the resevoir is partially blocked and not allowing full flow to the pump and filling the resevoir until it overflows

Thanks, I'll try just taking the hose off and checking for blockages as I have just been told the hose is only available from dealers and is £68.10 !!!!!!I also found out a new pump is over £200 !!!!! I think I need a lie down, might as well do that under the car and sort the pipe at the same time.

try breakers yard for a replacement pump if it comes to it.

Thanks but I don't have the time or facilities to do it myself now. So going to have to bite the bullet and pay £260 for a garage to do it! Still cheaper than the local Skoda dealer who quoted at £310.31!
