Had the dreaded Engine mangt. light come up this morning.

Phoned a mate to see if he had a vagcom he did but was away for a few days he gave me a No. for MPC who specialise in all german cars. Phoned up, guy said bring it down, seemed busy when I got there waited 5 mins mech. came out plugged in and it came up with a temp. sender fault.

He phoned at 1700 hrs said he had the unit and could fit it Tues am. I thought not bad service!

Don,t know about prices but he charged me £26 inc vat for the plug in and said the unit would be £26 plus half hour fit???

Price for the part and labour doesn't sound too bad and the turnaround for seeing you and being able to sort it sounds fantastic, but it annoys me that a diag costs so much money. I appreciate that they have to have training to use them (although even a monkey like me found his way around one in a matter of minutes) and that the units themselves cost money, but it's only a minute's work! Still, better than a lot of dealers who charge £70 odd quid for a diag readout! :eek:

Had the sender fitted to-day. If I had known where it was I could have just about managed to fit it myself!!

Sender £26 and to fit £22.

Not too bad. I might be sorting his garden out so I could get some back!!!

His diag kit does loads of motors so must be pretty pricey but I do take your point!
