Seat Strut brace vs. Forge brace

Featured Replies

Right whats the pro's and con's of each.

As far as im aware, Seat is £20 cheaper looks better:confused: the forge however is lighter, but which is the better strut brace performance wise, i thought the forge looked a bit weany :thumbdwn:

I know it doesnt make that much difference but every little helps

Thanks jason

I have used a Momo adjustable, and also a Forge adjustable. Not tried the fixed Seat one, but the comparison between the Momo and the Forge was like night and day. All I would say, is buy the Seat one. This is a very very rare case of a Forge item not being as good as it looks, IMHO of course. Quite flimsy, not the best fit in the world, and overpriced.

I thought it looked flimsy, how do you rate the MOMO one? how much is it too, just got the new Demon Tweeks mag through ;)

i was speaking to my mate joshua who use to have one these and he said they are highly recomended so i am going to get a seat one for sure are they an easy fit?

If it's the upper strut brace you are on about, yes it's an easy fit.

You have to loosen the controller box thingy on the o/s to attach it, and when fitted it will impede access to the pd160 airbox if fitted.

it looks nice, but has minimal effect.

5 min job so ive heard, unbolt existing bolts, place strutbrace on then replace bolts, some say to get new bolts but i dont really see the point, just make sure there torqued up right

Yes it will fit fine.

But, when you clean your air filter, you will have to loosen the n/s bolts to get the cover off, they snag by about 1/2", which is a pain.

You may be lucky though and just get away with it, I am very impatient and tend to break things:O

Don't tighten the bolts too hard though, if they strip the threads, it is an **** of a job to replace them, just nip them up lightly, and check them once a week.

Sorry to be a pain but you mention the pd160 box, would there be no clearance issues on a vrs 130 box?

Err, dunno tbh:O

My fabia which had the strut brace had the 160 box, which I found snagged when removed for cleaning.

My present 2 don't have the brace, so...........

The impeding of airbox has nothing to do with the PD160 (or 130 for that matter) intake pipe. It blocks access to the top of the box.

Graham is talking about the air filter box (which the brace sits over) which is unaltered by the PD160 trumpet mod, which is just the feed to the air box.
