Just ordered the vRS

Featured Replies

The dealer told me it would take 12 weeks. He then explained that they can change a car when in production for the extras and then would only take 8 weeks. I think he meant that a car that was meant to be made as standard but then changed for the extras i have ordered.

Anyone hear of this before?

A few dealers would have RS ordered for stock or swap amongst themselves.

Did you go for the rear parking sensors?

Basically there are cars avaliabe to be built on certain weeks. The dealer normally choose the quickest one to be built and it is flagged on the system. Any deviation from std at time of will add to the cars lead time as the parts have to be ordered for the car (they are not held in stock to save costs and space and it's something all manufacturers do not just car makers, it's called the 'just in time' system) Another problem is if the car is changed after the order is placed using the order change form, as it means extra parts need to be ordered too. Also the dates can slip due to other production overruns.

If a car is scheduled for a certain build week then, up to a certain period, things can be changed.

I have to finalise the order after lunch with a deposit so will probably order the sensors.

My main worry was if the car was made as standard and then changed that it would have been done outside the factory afterwards:rolleyes:

I think the kind of things you are talking about are changes before the build process begins.

i orderd my 08 vrs 3 weeks ago with lots of extras some of them the freebies on offer at the moment and west end broxburn:thumbup: found a car destined for another garage, ordered to my spec + maxi dot extra £120. so that they had a well specced car to sell on the forecourt.

couple of calls later to see if it was a customer or garage order and it was mine. roll on saturday. blue vrs tdi ,do a lot of miles so it was the only option .

though i will miss the LCR 225:weeping:

so if you are prepared to pay a bit more for an option that you hadn't considered its just possible there is a car of you choice on the system either in build ,on its way to this country or possible even allocated to another garage any skoda dealer should be able to check skoda stock and spec of cars with there computer sure i had the choice of 3 with only cruise control missing which garage was going to fit at dealership.

hope you get your ideal car ask and you will hopefully receive!

Order was finalised. I've been told 7 weeks which isn't bad. In Ireland looks like the jumbo box and maxidot are standard. I've ordered alarm, xenons and parking sensors as options.

As Skoda are revealing the Comon Rail engined vRS at the Geneva Motor Show, does this mean all new builds will have this engine? Who will get the first one on here to tell us what its like I wonder?!

Guys just to let you know Dm Keith dealers in wakey are behind on their targets and are offering me aspankign brand new white octy oil burner with £1640 of optional extras including the free upgrade offer jumbo pack with 18"s at the total amount payable of £18,424.40 putting in £9500 deposit and 36 months payable of £247.90

Their number is 01924 273069

Their making a 2% losson the vehicle so ive ben told after ringing round dealers in Lancashire doncaster harrogate all over the north bascially they say bite their hands off lol.

The dealer was kind enough to lend me a run around until my vRS arrives. It's a 2001 Octavia 1.6. Noticing it's economy it's averaging 32-33 mpg and that's driving it normal. I've never gone over 80mph and i don't bother using the higher revs( not much point in this engine just more noise)

My question is how is a 2.0 turbo with twice the power as economical as this? Or is the 1.6 not particularly an economical engine?

I've always drove diesels and this 1.6 at 60-70mph in fifth it sounds like a diesel stuck in third gear it's revs are a bit high that i'm normaly used to. In the diesel i was at only 2000 rpm at 70 mph. I'm assuming the 2.0tfsi will be quieter and at a lower rpm than the 1.6 engine.

Cheers for that Littlebull. They can afford to lose 2% on the car when their bonus overall if met could make that look pathetic! :P

Ordered mine on november 1st:),Race blue jumbo pack included.

Then the extras bit by bit, first sat nav, then rain sensors, light assist, then cruise, removable tow bar, rear parking sensors .

I will now be picking it up Tomorrow VRS 08 plate:eek: adding bits can add to delivery times, im sure it will be worth the wait :D.

Micky all i can say is enjoy.

Just ordered my 2nd one, silver this time thou.

I'd say if i'm lucky it will run into another 2 weeks until i get it. If it does get the boat tomorrow by the time it gets to the dealer i'd say late next week and then by the time it gets PDI'd i'd say the following week.

Bet you're feeling :D:):D:)

She is over the moon (the missus)

Anyone would have thought I sold the skoda for an Audi the way she is raving on about the car.:rofl::rofl:

I have to say I love it too . :D

Big car, small capacity engine = has to work harder.

Well after a long 8 weeks my vRS will be ready for collection either Wednesday evening or Thursday.

aha I got my TFSI vRS hatch from DM Keith (indirectly). £16300 with Maxi dot, jumbo box upgrade, 18", curtain airbags and parking sensors.

When I say indirectly, it was ordered through a vehicle leasing company who sell to private buyers like me. Took 3 months to arrive, but very pleased with it.
