Does anyone know if the 16v head off the 1.4 mk4 Polo engine (AFH) will go onto the the 1.6 engine (AEE) ??

The 1.4 16v is ment to kick out 100bhp weather this is true or not isn't really an issure but the addition of another 8 valves over standered has to get my Fun gonig a little quicker

If this plan is a no go then it's the 1.8t.

Because a tuned AEE to 100bhp is always going to be less than the same engine with a 16 valve head isn't it. More valves better flow more power.

as far as i know...the only engines that will fit in the felly body without any major madifications are the 1.3, 1.6 and 1.9d engines that originally came with the cars

I have no idea whether or not the heads can be swapped (you need to consider bore centres and positions of oil and water ways from block to head for sure: You may also have problems with stud patterns or compression ratio).

What I do know is that a 16V head is not a "magic bullet" that will increase power in a practical sense. This is particularly so when you have a 16V head for a smaller capacity engine, since the smaller capacity intrinsically needs less gas flow at a given engine speed.

Even if the conversion works, you might be disappointed with the results. When VW did this with the Golf GTi, they achieved higher peak power, but lost torque below about 3_000rpm.
