Heated Mirrors

Featured Replies

Hi all!

The heated mirrors on my 06 Octy II (1.9 TDi elegance) seem not to be working. Is there a fuse which is responsible? If so, which one is it? the manual gives no clue as to anything other than the most basic fuse coverage, and I would rather not have to go thro' the whole flipping lot!

I cannot hear the relay click when the control is put to the heated position and the mirrors are not getting remotely warm at all.

By contast our 55 reg Fabia Vrs's ones get nicely toasty, and you can clearly hear the relay click in under the dash when switching them on/off

Your help most appreciated.

Looking in my owners manual, it looks most likely to be the Control unit for auxiliary heating fuse, that is one of the engine compartment fuses, or the auxiliary heating fuse in the dash panel.

Mine work, but I have never been aware of a relay click before

Put the mirror control stick into the heating position and put the rear demister on as well! It should work!

Agree! I only found this out recently - you have to have the rear window heater on before you can select the mirror heaters and they will work. My previous car you could select mirror/rear window heaters on their own which confused me with the Octy - doesn't take much to confuse me though ;-)

mine work with the rear demister on or off, doesn't matter

never heard before any relay clicks either :P

This is a great example of how some variants of a model do vary, in that some folks say that the hrw should be on and others say that it doesn't matter.

I will try it with the HRW on this afternoon, although I have to say that I have never been conscious of having to switch the HRW on before to activate the function.

In my case it could be easily explained by the fact that my O2 is built for the Scandinavian market.

Same as here.

Mine also work regardless of the rear heater setting. Check that the switch on the door is in the on position, rotate the control all the way around so that the white mark is opposite the O position.

That confused me too :)

Works a treat now though :)

Well folks, it seems that the mirrors do not heat up regardless of whether the HRW is on or off.

Examined every fuse in the engine compartment and in the R/H side of the dashboard, and all are OK. So am completely foxed. Yet again the car will have to visit the dealer, which is getting tedious, now having been back 10 times in less than two years for silly faults. This is unacceptable, and is in total contrast to the VRS fabia we also have which has never been to the dealers, except for routine servicing.

Car is now booked in to have the mirrors looked at. They have apparently 'burned out'.

A common problem with some Octavias, according to the dealer.
