Should I be worried...

Featured Replies

I'm concerned. When travelling at speeds of, say, 15 to 20mph around roundabouts or turning right out of a junction, I hear what sounds like scraping :eek::eek:

It's only started this afternoon. It only happens at slow speeds and I don't hear anything when turning left. Anyone got any ideas...? :confused:

Cheers.

Wheel bearing perhaps or maybe one of the joints?

It may be something simple like a loose mudflap.

It may be something complicated like a very very small illegal immigrant keeping warm under your wheel arch, and his goobye present from his maternal granmama ( which was a very rare scarf, knitted from the pubes of 15, 15 year old albanian virgins ) has somehow started to unravel and has caught on a driveshaft, slowly strangling him............

Explain that to the wife then .......

:confused::confused:

Ignore me, I'm going now....:D

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

It could also be something to do with the brakes ?

with the car stopped - turn hard lock each way and see if there's anything simply rubbing (bit of loose wheel arch trim, mudflap, road debris caught.

Put the car up on a jackstand and try wiggling the wheels, hands on top and bottom, in and out - if that's loose it may be a wheel bearing.

Ideally check it out professionally before it gets any worse.

Cheers Basil. Have got a mechanic looking at it this afternoon. I would have had a little look yesterday, but it was a bit dark by the time we got home.

:rofl: Bet if I mentioned the possibility of an immigrant squeezing themselves into an impossibly small space she'd perfectly understand; however, anything mechanical, electrical or the off-side rule is clearly magic and beyond her comprehension. :D

Do let us all know what comes up - will keep my fingers crossed it's an easy fix..

Cheers

Had a mechanic look at the car this afternoon and it appears as though there's nothing serious. Must have been some road debris. Bearings on both sides of the car seem ok. Panic over [for now].

Thanks for all the tips though! :thumbup:
