Heavy clutch Octavia TDI

Featured Replies

The clutch on my 12-months old Octavia Elegance 1.9 TDI is very heavy, and is extremely tiring to use in traffic. It gets progressively heavier the farther you have to push it. My dealer has said that no adjustment can be made. I find this hard to accept as in none of my many previous cars has clutch resistance been a problem. A different dealer said that the gearbox and clutch for the diesels were different from the petrol versions. I am wondering whether this is a general problem with the diesels, or maybe is this a servo fault correctable under warranty.

Has any one else had this problem, or can advise?

Thanks John

I don't think it's normal - I have a 2002 Octy TDi and I don't think the clutch is at all heavy - keep pestering your dealer. The only other advice would be to see if you can try another TDi side-by-side. If you're anywhere near the Fens/Cambridgeshire you're welcome to try mine...

My 2003 TDi has a nice light clutch.

Something doesn't sound right at all

Had to have the clucth repalced on the vRS a few weeks back. Was getting very heavy and then started slipping very badly. Only 36k miles, was done under warranty, dealer said something was sticking inside, but not sure what. Could be a similar problem maybe

Something is wrong, the clutch on mine is very light and requires little effort to depress the pedal.
