Dont think the TV programme did, but the Top Gear magazine did a test of the Octy 1 vRS versus an MG ZS and a VW Bora 1.8T and the vRS beat the lot and won the test.I'm sure I've got a copy somewhere in amongst all my Skoda tests!:)

ive looked for a long time as i remember a video of the three (then presenters) in a silver vrs hammering around a track and loving it. very similar to the Puma test they did. still never found it so will be in my memory.

didnt the top gear test car have the 225 engine supposedly though?

the rumour is it was remapped.

I have driven the vRS that autocar used for its review, one of the owners was a member here for a while. We put the car on AmDs rolling road and the figures were slightly higher than a non remapped car. Have a look for posts by Freakcrab the then owner of the car (Y91 RVV).

Yeah, it was an odd figure that as it was slightly less than youd expect for a remapped car today, perhaps the maps werent the best back then or it was more conservative.
