I am investigating getting the steering wheel replace, I have part numbers and from the dealer it looks like costing £500 in parts. I have the chance to get a secondhand wheel and controller from the breakers (no airbag), how much should I be paying do you think without taking the p***.

You'll also need the loom for the airbag/buttons Manny.

If it's in good condition then I'd say no more than £150.

Also make sure the controller isn't broken as there is a technique to get them off.

Are you by any chance watching the item from Cheshire salvage? They asked £90 on eBay for just the wheel without airbag. They also seemed to have AQ controller for sale. Judging from the picture, the wheel was pretty dirty so it could be that the salvage process hasn't been very gentle

I have had quiet a long email conversation, and they are prepared to sell both to me if the price is right. But they say the controller comes complete with the stalks which I dont really want.

Pure coincidence. I was browsing through eBay today, and they have the wheel listed there with pictures from the controller and the whole stalk package. They already have 1 bid on the wheel.

That probably means that they don't know how to take the contoller off from the steering column, if they're selling it as a whole package.:confused:
