Featured Replies

i have heated mirrors on my vrs, or should i say heated mirror! should i have two. only the drivers side gets hot. if im supposed to have two any ideas why the near side would stop working?

i have the same problem but on the oposite mirror took it to the dealers and they said it was fine, but still dont work

would think they are on the same fuse.gonna go and look.

ye i think so

in manual it says heated exterior mirror. not mirrors as it says for adjusting L/R exterior mirrors.

Could it just be the element in/behind the glass has burnt out? Pretty sure both are fused together so any problem in the circuit would stop them both working.

I have a VRS and both sides get warm when defrosting in the mornings on the drive.

Mine were on for the first six months I had the car as I didn't realize the middle position wasn't just the off position. Both still working, but I wish there was a proper off position as my learners always switch it to the middle and I sometimes still don't notice until I readjust them for me after the lesson. I've thought about fitting a secondary switch but can't be bothered.

Don't they turn off after 20minutes anyway??? (or did I just imagine that? :) )

i thought it was off

that means mines have been on since i got the car aswell.

There is no mention of this in the Owner's Manual. Perhaps you were thinking of the heated rear window which does switch off automatically after 20 minutes, unless you then press the switch once again in which case it is switched on permanently, ie the automatic deactivation is then deactivated.

Aren't the mirrors only on when the rear window is on? (and obviously the switch is in the center position).

This was certainly the case with my Golf.

Having had the same setup on the polo before i got the vRS..... It has always been a case of when the mirror adjuster switch is in the middle the wing mirrors heat up while the ignition is on. If you move the switch to one of the wing mirror positions it switches one of the mirror heaters off. As i say this is how it worked on the Polo and also how mine work on the vRS... In fact on both our vRS's.

The MG ZS we used to have worked the same way but the Lexus we used to have a couple of years ago had a little button to switch the heated mirrors on/off as reqd.

HTH

Cheers

Dave.
