Lowering

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My estate ride needs pulling to the ground. I'm thinking about 35mm springs, no dampeners (yet). Anyone done this with a xenon-fitted auto-leveled estate?

I have read about experiences with non-functioning auto-leveling after lowering. Any advice?

No no no!

Lower :)

I have Xenon lights and Eibach springs.

Ah. Just what i needed to hear :)

Guess it boils down to bad workmanship... Just watch the sensors while fitting, then. To bad spacers aren't allowed in Denmark.

VRS 195 had the Eibach lowering springs fitted on his estate before he took delivery of it if I recall - they lower it by 20mm.

These are also £167.50 + VAT fitted with laser alignment at Awesome too.

You just need the headlights and system resetting afterwards ideally.

35mm seems too low, particularly with xenons; Eibachs lower (a vRS) by 20mm that is pretty much OK.

The vRS is dropped by 20mm, but a standard Octavia would see a 35mm drop with the same springs.

... and yes my Eibachs were fitted at PDI meaning that they are covered by the 3 year warranty and fortuitously get lumped in with the 4.9% APR finance aswell

So defo a reason to get any extras added by the dealer at PDI if you can, especially on 0% deals.

Thats right. At the present it feels like I'm i cirkus with my octy wandering about on high thin wooden legs. 35mm on my standard should give it the proper looks, hopefully without loosing to much comfort.

This is mine dropped by 20mm (total 35mm)

I like it! That's how it is supposed to look.

Another thing: If you look at all the pr-images of the new standard Octavia II, they all seem to be lowered like yours. And also, if you look at the ones with Pegasus 17" alloys, they seem to be fitted with 15mm spacers like bahnstormer vrs is. That irritates me a wee bit. I bought the car on the picture, not the clown on sticks I have now.

Notice my alloys: 17" - fitted with the vRS here in Denmark, where standard fitting is 18" i the UK (innit?). 18" make a hole foooking lot of difference from 17. This is a result of wako dansih taxes, where everything you fit on your car from the factory, is taxed with 180%. This means that eg. xenon costs in the vicinity of £1200 here, which obviously is a bit more than in a country like Norway, where it costs about £300...

To be a car enthusiast is not easy in northern europe. Lets move to Saudi Arabia.
