Intermittent power loss

Featured Replies

Any of you folks come across/have any idea what this problem is?

Recently, and now more frequently, I have been getting a power loss under loa, I think around 3500-4000 rpm. The vehicle judders slightly as though it is misfiring. As soon as I change up it's OK. It feels like temporary loss of boost as on a couple of occasions I have reverted to normal boost after one of these episodes. Incidentally I have a remap with a frequent suspected 17705 fault which I have previously discussed at length on various threads so this may be related in terms of failing pressure hoses etc. I don't have VAGCOM but I am due an 80k service any time soon.

Cheers folks,

Thorfinn.

i take it you are refering to a VRS????

No. It's a 4x4 estate with a Jabba remap Bailey DV and custom exhaust. Running at around 230 bhp most of the time.

Get the fault codes read at the service, but be preapred to need a pressure test to find a leaky hose, particularly if there's no codes.

Cheers Ken, I'm booked in next Tuesday so they are primed to have a good look at all the codes etc.

Did you have the problem before your Jabba remap?

This is a recent fault unrelated to the remap as I have had that for over 12 months. The mechanic suggested that it may be plugs as these were due at the 80k service. He said they looked knackered and since replacing it looks like, on the 11 mile drive into work after picking it up, it seems to have sorted it.

I do get the 17705 fault code and associated boost loss problem, solved by recycling the ignition. He was unable to erase this code until after he had completed the service but no doubt it will come back as he didn't find anything obviously wrong with any hoses or solenoid valves. The other codes I think related to a lean mixture 16396 & 17544. Anyway, seems to be running much smoother now.
