Hello all. Have recently bought Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI Ambient with DSG gearbox. Box is not always smooth and takes some time to reverse. Have had it back to dealer 2 times. They drained fluid and re-programmed box, still not satisfactory. Has anyone else had similar problems

Hiya.

If she doesn't answer this herself in the next day or 2, send a PM to Lady Elenore. Her's was a 2 litre, but I think your issues are DSG rather than engine related.

Outback going, what next?

After dropping a wodge on the Outback for a new battery only for the tailgate issues to immediately recur and funnily enough for a internet search to suddenly (wasn't before) flag that there is a persistent and long standing Subaru issue with a parasitic battery drain via the telematics module. Basically the car continually tries to phone home and drains the battery, the tailgate control module is acutely sensitive to voltage meaning that if the car has sat for more than a day (sometime less) th

MOT today with a couple of advisory but also yet another broken front spring. Thats seven now in two years on my cars. Sounds a daft question but wondered if anyone has changed front shocks without removing hub. Was wondering if both wheels were off ground with car on axle stands would there be enough play to drop knuckle enough to separate and remove shocks. Alasdair

Hi folks, I'm finding the steering feel of the Superb somewhat lifeless, vague and far too light. Looking for your help to see what I can do to improve it Having owned 3 other VAG's (2 x Golf R's and 1 x Golf Alltrack) I'm used to the lack of steering feedback however, the Superb is the worst so far. Drove my wife's Alltrack the other day and it was more direct than the Superb. Current handling mods are just Eibach lowering springs at the moment, and good tyr

Hi, I brought a 2012 Skoda Fabia in May 2026 and the air circulation button (i think) when you press it or turn on aircon which automatically turn on it makes an awful banging noise Has anyone had this issue and know what the solution is (other than leaving off) Also the passenger electric window will open on passenger switch but close only on driver (is that common?) cheers

DIY ABS warning Fix

Yesterday our Roomster started beeping and flashing the warning light about the ABS. My first thought was to replace the ABS sensors – they are around £7 each and seem to be easy enough to replace by removing the rear wheels. I could also give the connections a bit of a clean at the same time. What are my chances chances of fixing the issue within 45 minutes of DIY work? I don’t have any diagnostic tools, but if this is a common fault with an easy fix it would be great to know what other peo
