 As above fellas! Had the usual checks done, been on vagcom and it shows no faults! system has lots of gas in! compressor spins nice but clutch wont engage! checked fuses ect! aircon button lights, seems to me like no power to compressor?? is there a way to put power to it to check it? Summers on its way and need it badly!

Have you got a multimeter? if so check to see if you have 12 volts there !

as to see if the clutch is working, disconect the wires from the compressor and connect two wires from there and connect to the battery, this should get it to work, if it does there should be a pressure switch some where on the system,so you need to check if this is not faulty.

also you say "system has lots of gas" how do you know?

Fabia vRS? If so it has no clutch just friction material between the pulley and compressor, mine went the same and it was a new compressor required unfortunatly.

If you did a search you might have found it ;)

Thanks again!

Mine did exactly the same during the fault finding, into the "danger, see professional" area. Have a good look at the compressor pulley for spidery bits of plastic and see the post above!
