Octavia facelift

Featured Replies

Apologies if this has been addressed in other threads.

I remember seeing an Auto Express article saying there'd be an Octavia facelift (incorporating new Skoda face as in Roomster and Fabia) in about October 08, but I've seen nothing since.

Does anyone know if and when there will be a facelift?

Is the revision likely to stretch to the new VW common rail diesels and/or replacing the 1.6 with the 1.4tsi 120 as in the Golf, perhaps with the 7 speed DSG?

Thanks very much

I've seen other posts on this - some people say the facelift won't happen until the new Golf comes out, which of course should have been by now (or nearly now) but was pulled for further development.

With the Superb launch in September I don't know how an Octy facelift would feature in Skoda's calendar.

I asked my dealer about this when I ordered mine. I said I was prepared to wait until September (58 plate) if there was a change in design. He said there are no plans to change the Octavia till 2009/2010 as Skoda want to concentrate on the new Superb and they are also bringing out the Yeti.

.... but then who can trust a dealer ?

The Octavia is selling well thoughout all of Skoda's markets. Apparently it is certainly not a priority to replace it. After all, they are still making the Mk 1 Octavia in some markets!

I have seen quite a few 07, 57 plate MkI's as taxi's. Im guessing they are either still built or are stock piled up somewhere and are sold specially to those people that want them as taxi's

Indeed, we have a guy at work that did work the taxi's and he drives a 07 plate MkI.

Wonder how much cheaper they are compared to the MkII base model?

Steve

On the Skoda Deutschland website you can factory order MK1s.

Available as Hatch or Estate with 1.6 petrol or 1.9 TDI (105bhp)

A 1.9 TDI Hatch is €16,150

A MK2 1.9TDI Hatch is €18,050

The Mk1 Octavia is called Octavia Tour and still in production in the plant located in Vrchlabí, Czech Republic (Octavia Mk2 4x4 and Scout is also manufactured here, not in the base plant in Mlada Boleslav).

Octavia Tour has only one equipment level available, including the newer shape dashboard, trim from the recent Elegance version, MP3 capable CD radio, 2 airbags, 15" wheels, ABS+MSR+MBA, power windows in front doors, colored side mirror houses, manual AC, extended service interval. As time goes by, more and more extra equipments run off the list of available ones (like instrument cluster wiht MaxiDOT display, which was available in 2005 but now it's off the list).

Engines: 1.4l 75 BHP, 1.6l 102 BHP, 1.9 TDI PD 100 BHP, 1.8l Turbo 150 BHP.

In 2007 Skoda manufactured more Mk1 Octavias then in 2006! About 80.000 units! People still like it and buy it!

Meanwhile 100.000 units of hatchback and 102.000 units of estate were made of Mk2 Octavia in 2007!

Wow, more Estates than hatches, I wonder where they all go as very few come to Eire.

Skoda will replace the 1.6 with the 1.4tsi 120 and the 1.9TDI with the new 1.6TDI in week 45 2008. They guess that the facelift will be at the same time.

And what about 2.0 TDi 140HP?????????

Does anyone know anything about it's future?

I mean, if 1.9TDi is replaced by 1.6TDi CR, the 2.0TDi 140HP will just be discontinued or have replacement?

I hope it's going to have something to replace it as that's the one of my choice and one I have. I guess it wouldn't keep on existing the way it is because VAG seems to move all of it's diesel engines to common rail.

The 1.6TDi CR is allegedly going to come in a 130 form as well as 100hp, so that may replace the 140?

Has anyone a translation fo that webpage?

I got a MK1 2006 TDi and mine is a taxi.

At the moment they are selling for £10400 from a Taxi centre but they are discontinuing them in 2010.As told by SUK.

And why is that then? There not all the same you know!

I'm sure 2.0 140 BHP engine will come out soon. Audi already started to sell it in the new A4.

Wow, more Estates than hatches, I wonder where they all go as very few come to Eire.

To say exact numbers: in the year of 2007 Skoda prduced 73080 units of Octavia Tour (estate and hatchback), this is 5.7% more than in 2006. (Interesting: 5.2% less Octavia Tour estates were made than in 2006, while this ratio is 8.9% more at the hatchback Tour Octavias).

Octavia Mk2 production ratio: 101891 Octavia (hatchback) and 106957 Octavia Combi (estate).

I think these numbers mean that most of the Mk1 Octavia (Tour) models were sold in the Central and Eastern European countries, where the classic form of the hatchback version is traditionally the form of a car.

The new Octavia sales numbers show the larger size of western european market, where estates are more required by buyers.

And what about 2.0 TDi 140HP?????????

Does anyone know anything about it's future?

I checked out the article. It says that 2.0 TDI will be replaced by a new one with the same power output. (The one You can find in new Audi A4)

Thanks, that's good news. I've seen the A4 in the showroom. It has 2.0TDi 143BHP.

does make me look twice when i see taxi mrk1 reg'd as a 57!

did a double take :)

ive been trying to find out about a facelift octy. so far ive got rumors that the elegance will be done, and will get the bumpers off the now defunct sport octy.

would be nice, i did like those bumpers!

Sure I read somewhere that there wasnt to be a facelift, but instead the Mk3 would be coming along fairly soon.

Would have thought though any new model would tie in with a new VW chassis, and there arent any the right size for a few years yet.

Well the wait for the new chassis certainly isn't stopping VAG in other areas. The facelifted A3 is in all the press this week.

Its long overdue a facelift as its now been 4 years since coming to UK, and skoda update their cars every 4 years.

MK.1 came out 1996 -(1998 in UK), facelifted 2000, then MK 2 came out 2004, so facelift due this year sometime.I suppose dealers won't be forthcoming with the info as they will want to shift all stocks of the current models for the best price.

I think the 2.0TDi PD is getting replaced by the 2.0TDi CR according to a Skoda news release I received recently.

Hi guys!

What do You say?

It seems to be real, not a photoshop creation.

Headlights look like Golf 6 will be.

22586.attach

Looks too big IMO to be an Octy2. Also the lights arent in keeping with the current style seen on Fabia 2 and Superb 2.

Maybe an Octy3 evaluation mule?
