Stone chips

Featured Replies

I now own a Octavia II, prior to this I owned a 53 plate octavia estate. Has anyone else noticed how easy the octavia II pics up stonechips? I drove down to the south west of France and all over the UK with the mk1 octavia and the body work was really good no stone chips. But with the Octavia II I have no where near the mileage but the front wings, roof just above windscreen and the windscreen pillars either side are peppered with stone chips :(.

Also does anyone else think the build quality is not as good as the older octavia? Its just when you close the doors it doesnt feel as solid, and the new octavia dash creaks, and I have a clicking or ticking from behind the dash ( like an electrical click) or behind the ash tray, and the new octavia as the 2ltr pd tdi 140 with the dsg, I wish I went for the 1.9 like before on the estate just felt a stronger engine. Its like I am waiting for something to go wrong, and dont get me started on the service intervals supposed to be on variable service - lol.

It's not just the Octy, - it's all modern cars - I experienced it with my Golf and my Audi. Something to doing with water based paint possibly I'm sure I read?

Mine is really stoned chipped down the front nearside wing as I had to pass 2 gritters on the motorway a few months back!

I have already posted under Exterior paintwork and ticking noises,. First ticking turned out to be the a/c it has to be put on their computor to rectify, its only a small job. Second, i agree with you on the paintwork as ours has same marks, see under exterior paintwork what the guy's said.

is this a polite way of saying search first before posting? :)

Those gritters are dangerous!

Keep well out of the way, and if it means slowing down to 40 or so then so be it.

I have actually left a motorway to avoid being caught up in the crossfire of these things........horrible!

Give us back slippery roads (joke!) :orb_skiin

I agree with it being modern cars. My Toyota Corrola is terrible for it. Had chips in it within 2 days of being brand new and I always hold my distance from the car in front.

Also bird poo is dangerous. Got to get it off immediately else suffer the consequence!

After 1,300 miles in 2 weeks mine has more chips than Shifty's establishment...
