Rub a lemon on.... then wipe

defo autosol. great stuff

I use a quick squirt of wheel cleaner, rinsed it off and then used autoglym metal polish.

best thing i found was brasso mate. got rid of all the deeper imperfections. heres a few pics

WHOA! That is impressive!! I think I need to use some wire wool too - mine is caked!

i used something like a green plastic scouring pad, bad idea, it now has a brushed aluminium look to it, i'm hoping it will polish up but will wait and see.

Used Autosol today with the 10 mins of sunshine i got. After looking at your pipe i think i`m gonna pay a visit to my Mums and borrow some brasso.:)

Best i got was Autosol and a toothbrush, no where near as impressive looking as that Brasso result, think im going to try some of that, tbh though i dont think my exhaust had been cleaned since new :(

This was the best i could get with autosol and this was hard going

I reckon oven cleaner would do a good job, but you'd have to be careful to keep it off your paintwork.

ill be getting some brasso soon too i think, nice one guys!!

That looks like new, excellent job :thumbup:

Did you use any other products in preparation, or did you just attack straight away with Brasso?

Steve

I had a go with something like Brasso, (just remembered!) and it didn't leave a finish like that! Hmmm... another go later today me thinks.

hi wardy. all i did was give it a wipe with a sponge first and a quick rinse. after id done the inside of the car etc i took it for a short run to let all the moisture out of the tailpipe. then i just wiped of all the dried on soot and set to work with the brasso. :)

I use Shiny Sinks first. Gets rid of the worst of the cr*p, then brasso to bring it to a shine.

SWMBO used a lemon on it the first time on our lemon yellow vrs, nowadays we use the wheel cleaner followed by meguirs metal polish

Another vote for Brasso from me

Impressive pipes! On the subject, and looking ahead to when a new exhaust section is inevitably needed, any clues as to how the exhaust finisher comes off (and then reattached). Last finisher I had (on another car) didn't survive the visit to National and how bad would the rear look without it!
