70,000 mile plus Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Guys

Seriously thinking about getting one of these cars. I don't have a huge budget mind (£6700 max.)

Should I be concerned getting a car with 70,000 plus miles on it? What should I look out for at that mileage.

I don't want to buy a car then have to fork out immediately for repairs etc.

Cheers

Cam Belt changed?

Clutch ok?

Good service history?

cam belt espescially, when combined with a big service, its loads of money.....

I'd also add, console bushes, they die all the time... listen for creaking over speed bumps , and uneven (bad) front tyre wear.......

as for the high mileage with the engine and gearbox, i wouldn't worry... although if it has a kkk turbo and not a garrett, apparently a turbo may go :( (there are some recent threads if you do a search....)

mine was still running like new at 80k......, but it was due the big cambelt/major service, and brake fluid change, and all round discs and pads...... which is why I got rid at that time! (most of them have cam belt at 60k/4 years though...)

note: look at the log book, and contact the previous owner... a few choice questions should sort out its history.....

My girlfriend's vRS is running at 82k now, I've got a vRS SE and I prefer to go out for a ride in hers!

If you can get a reliable one then you're on to a winner. Only problems with her 04 plate were leaky rear doors and console bushes. Not bad for 80k

These enghines are good for 250k and beyond! Sold my VRS on 78k and was still perfect andf that is wafter a re-map at 20k. Still on original clutch as well.

Check cam belt is done as that is expensive!

Feel for damp patches in rear footwells as door seal leaks are common.

Make sure driverside seat mount is secure as common to have seat mounts that wobble a bit.

Dont be suprised if the CD player sounds like a wood pecker. Mine did this all its life and is a common fault with the symphiony system.

I had mine at Skoda garages for all services as new was going to sell it. Make sure has full service history.

Lovely cars that will last and last!
