Ipod Car Kit

Featured Replies

Has anyone fitted a Dension 100 active ipod car kit into their octy that has a Symphony stereo with changer?

Do they work?

:confused::confused: Paul

I've had one a week, very straightforward to install. It tucked in quite nicely above the headunit and I ran the cable to the glovebox. I'm finding it confusing to use. I have spent an hour sat in the car with the instructions trying to figure out the controls and I'm still baffled. :confused:I'm not sure if it's any better or worse than the other options (connects 2?) but I'll persevere. Don't want a shiny headunit that will attract theives or a visible mount.

Hi,

Will be interested how you get on as I am thinking of getting one, as I do not want a shiny new head unit.

Are you using the one that retains the use of the CD changer?

Good luck with the dreaded instruction book!!!!

The Dension kits aren't really worth it, if you want the best iPod car kit you have to try a connects2 lead. This will plug into the CD changer port on the back of the standard head unit (which means you will lose the changer if you have one). This is the best option as it has a direct link from the iPod to the head unit. The Dension ones i have come across plug into the fm aerial port, meaning you have to tune the head unit to the frequency of the Dension kit. The connects2 will play as if it is a CD changer, so you get ease of use and much better sound quality, which is the most important thing. The connects2 lead is £94.99 i believe.

I have the dension 100 that plugs into the cd changer port, they have an adapter that allows use of a changer but I can't see the point when my ipod holds 1000s of tracks. I still have the single slot for a disk I'm desperate to listen to.

Now to spend the Easter break getting to grips with the thing!:thumbup:

BTW I think the CD retention adapter is called "CDR1VW8" and plugs between the changer cable and the Dension. It's also very tight behund the head unit to run cables!
