I was giving my Octy vRS some stick on Saturday.. when going up a duel carriage way.. a Mk5 Golf 1.9TDi latched onto my bumper.. only above 120mph did I pull away with any distance.. the Omega 1.5V6 was a pain as he then got in the way...

Those TDI cars are rapid...

105bhp in the new Golf 1.9TDI ....

Can be 100 bhp, 130 bhp or 140 bhp in the MK5 Golf.

Had a Mk4 try and do the same thing to me returning from Bruntingthorpe.

Would have been touch and go in a standard car....fortunately, mine hasn't been standard for quite a while

Steve, if you're not convinced then fair enough, but there's plenty of people who are convinced.

Fell free to go spend

I thought the new MK5 Golf came in 1.9TDI 105BHP or 2.0TDI at 140BHP form onl

The Golf was a 1.9TDI...

Impressivly rapid...

Sounds like you're talking yourself into that Furby Dazz...... ;)

Oi.. you Rover lover... :P

I don't need to be talked into any modern TD car... I had for 18 months a 1999 Passat TDI 110.. which easily out performed all 2l Mondeo/Vectra reps easly...

truth be told.. if Seat/Skoda had the 130/150 TDi engines sooner then I would be driving a diesel instead of a petrol..

It's surprising how little difference there is if both parties are really trying, even if the 0-60 times are quite different. I found this out trying to overtake an Audi TT 180 in my Impreza turbo (classic shape). He changed down (clumsy rocking on suspension), floored it (puff of smoke) and I could do little more than crawl past, definately quicker but not comfortable!

Was gutted about this until on the way home (same day) a TVR Cerbera Speed Six tried to overtake me whilst I was giving it the full beans in 3rd from 60mph. He crawled past, definately quicker but not comfortable... Felt better.

Tired of spending
