Colours - decisicions - decisions..

Featured Replies

Having settled for the 4x4 L&K in anthracite gray, which I found is very suitable for this car, I was confronted with the Storm blue. Hum. Some say the storm blue is very prone to stone hits, others say it will be a looser when I sell it -- and I am a bit indecisive at the moment. Any suggestions out there..?

A 4x4 L&K? Has that been a well kept secret in Britain?.I wish that I could have ticked that option on the order form!!.

On the subject of the colour, I am about to take delivery Of new 2.0tdi L&K estate in Island green. This will replace my 2.0Tdi Elegance estate also in Island green. In the 3 years I have owned the car the paintwork has survived remarkably well and still looks fantastic. Also I was amazed how good a price I was offered as a trade in. I thought about blue but I was not impressed by the selection (except the VRS race blue) which was not available on the L&K.

well I've ordered a storm blue l&k with alcantara interior

I guess my first choice was black magic but didn't want to be forevere washing it, I know storm blue probably isn't that much better....but well it grabbed my eye in the show room and my last few cars have been silver which I'm now a bit bored of!

4x4 L&k?

Not On The Planet I Am On!!

Anthracite Grey L&k Ok.

I Have Just Bought One And It It Easier To Keep Clean Than The Black Vrs

4x4 L&k?

It is most definitely offered on the SAME planet as you, just not the same country.

The give away may have been Jorgen's name.

The Octavia is available in 4x4 L&K in at least two countries I am aware of, Czech Republic and Germany. It would also make sense to offer the premium trim in 4x4 in the scandinavian countries and other northern territories where the 4x4 is almost mandatory for snow and ice and other harsh environment traversal.

FYI the L&K edition is €3,250 more than Elegance and €5,310 more than Ambiente trim. (Octavia 4x4)

By the way, Welcome Jorgen!

I think the Anthracite Grey Metallic is more sophisticated and up-market.

Thanks for the welcome, and thanks for the considerations - oh, and, I considered it in black too, but the dealers told me it was a bit too fragile for the occasional wash in the backyard.

In Norway the price difference between 4x4 Elegance and L&K is about the same as the additional cost for the new navigation unit itself, and you get some other goodies thrown in too, so it is tempting.. And I will probably get the bluetooth kit mentioned around here installed later if I have the guts to do it myself or if I can find a proper place that will do it.

The problem with car colours today in UK and Europe is that the are just too dull! There is no vibrancy to them. Whilst Silver or Black or Anthracite or Dark Blue may look good in isolation, 'on the road' most cars are this colour and therefore look totally BORING and DULL.

If you look at any (upmarket) dealers forecourt, my local BMW and Porsche dealerships spring to mind, it is like looking at a Black & White photo - there is no Colour! - OK; I know you can get a GT3 in Lime Green or an M3 in White or Red but these are exceptions. My local Vauxhall (Opel) dealership with 50+ cars out front is just the same!

However; to offer an opinion for JorgenR (for what it may be worth); for an L&K spec Octy I'd go for Island Green or Flamenco Red.

I have a 4x4 in Anthracite Grey and it looks very good IMHO - and it doesn't seem to show the dirt anywhere near as much as black or blue

I have a L&K in Storm Blue and I am more than happy with the colour and have had plenty of compliments on the colour. I haven't noticed a problem with stone chips. In terms of later resale, I think it should be OK.

German(ic) brands have always been predominantly spec'd in "metal" colours - ie silver, grey, black, blues.

Obviously, silver is the German racing colour.

They are also the predominant colour for any prestige brand or models (if you ignore the histroric BRG on Jags etc). Certainly almost all professional chauffeur cars are black, silver or possibly dark blue at a push.

If you ever see a pillar box red merc or bmw (especially 7 series ) you really know about it!

Consider Satin Grey metallic - it really suits my new Scout. It is really light blue in colour and it washes well. I reckon it would suit your L & K!

Really like the Satin Grey when we saw (and ordered) one in the dealers the other day. We've opted for this colour to replace our 'old' 06 Octy elegance, which is in anthracite grey.

No delivery date yet for the new car.......Boo!

Go for island green. I've ordered an estate elegance in this colour, expected delivery late april.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I really appreciate it. Problem is; yess I want that car, but wait a moment -- what colors do they offer? Cars I have owned, and really appreciated the colors are - Lancia Delta medium silver, Fiat Croma, dark silver, Citroen Xantia dark green, and many others that were boring. But for the Skoda, there is no Yess - feeling. All the colors are some kind of pastel compromise ones lacking of guts to promote the identity feeling. But I guess the antracite will do, it is stylish in sunlight as someone mentioned, but looks like a lump of clay in the dark. Oh well. After all its just a car..

Jorgen, the anthracite grey is still very attractive, in my opinion. We only changed colour (see earlier post) because we fancied a change - no other reason. You'll still be very happy with yours!
