Fabia Open Mouth, Should I??

Featured Replies

Well I am after yet another piece of advice.

Heres my problem, i need more airflow into the front mount on my fabia. But i am not sure wether i like the open mouth mod

Never seen it done on a black fabia before, the only ones ive seen are shiftys and jasons and as you know they aint black, well shiftys boot lid is black ;) the rest is silver

Please do post up pics if you have any

Also the crash bar, what do people usually do with this?? I was thinking of taking a 25mm circle cutter and putting a nice arrangement of holes in it

Cheers John

Go for it mate.

Why not make an alloy duct for the FMIC then?

This way you keep the std looks with more air passing through the FMIC than what would by just making the aperture bigger.

The crash bar is in the way for an alloy duct i am affraid. I think i could get away with taking small holes out of the front of it, but modding anymore might cause weakness.

Crash bars are for pansies ;)

And for insurance companies ;)

 I am sure they serve more of a purpose that just to keep the insurance accessors happy ;)

The fabia front end cant be that rigid if you start hacking bits out of it

I think open mouth look on a black Fabia would look much better and not so obvious as a lighter coloured car,it would look more discreet if you know what i mean:rofl:

Saludosss

I like Dave's crash bar - might be worth asking him what it is! :)

I think the mod is essential for airflow personally. Much more subtle on a black fabia IMHO, especially if you spray the intercooler matte black too. My crash bar was replaced with 2" tubular steel. More aerodynamic lol.

go for it John:thumbup:

Here.....sorry if there to big

Who did ur crash bar mate if you dont mind me asking? Is it just a bit of bar welded to the original mounts on the chassis legs?

cheers John

Awesome did it. Its cut the width of the opening, and the steel bar welded in place. Simple job for a man with a welder.

I have two welders, a mig and an electric arc one. I can weld good with the mig but its broken and I cant weld with an arc one for toffee. Looks like a bird has pooped on it when i have used that one

Might drop them a line see if they will make another :D

You may be able to see one end here......
