haha :P tried it but then it gets to loud

my mums passat does that.

lol it just gets higher pitched, the more you turn it up.

can you put up with it.

- shes half deaf anyway, and can't hear it, lol.

Turn stereo up!!!lol, or remove debris from motor

I imagine it's very similar to the Favorit, which does the same. The bearings in the fan are pretty rubbish. I just put up with mine because I'm too lazy to pull it all apart and fix it, but it's actually not very hard to access the unit on these models (unlike some old British cars where you practically had to dismantle the whole dashboard). You may get away with just spraying some silicone lubricant spray at it - it's unlikely to do any harm to anything. Eyeball it and work out where the bearings must be, and aim for there!

thanks :) will give that a try later on :P

I just took the blower assembly out and lubricated the bearings with regular synthetic engine oil. It has stayed quiet since. Very easy DIY job, won't be bothered if I had to do it again every now and then to keep the blower running a bit longer. Still, if the above shouldn't work, a new blower motor assembly is a very cheap replacement part, 64,90€ with fans included.
