advice needed in bumpstop trimmimng (pic attached)

Featured Replies

I want to trim down the OEM bumpstops to make sure that the Koni FSD's (to be fitted soon) have full travel.

Attached is a pic of the OEM new bumpstops I got - I understand that I have to remove 20mm off the front one (on the left) and 30mm from the center of the rear one (on the right).

Can anyone edit the pic to show "where to cut" please?

As the rears have to be re-glued after cutting I'd like to give the epoxy a chance to harden properly before fitting...

Different diagrams (ETOS and the great Eibach install on fabia-vrs.com) show the front one orientated differently. Is the front bump stop in the pic the right way up?

Thanks

Bas

Excuse the crude paint pic. :o

I would cut the bump stops where i have highlighted in red.

Thats what i did, but i have since been told that the ibiza cupra bump stops are shorter, so might order some of them if i go the spring damper way as apposed to coilys

Just one donut is enough I think Bas.

:bump:

Both are upside down

For the front stop there is no need to cut and re glue, just lop the bottom section off.

Thanks Ross - did that just now. Used a sharp Stanley knife with extreme care and it cut very nicely.

Measuring calipers show 18mm shorter fronts and 28mm shorter rears.

Will know later, but I seriously doubt the guy who installed my Eibachs did all this, 'tho I asked him to.....

Worth getting a spring compressor for sure...

Here's a pic afterwards - before glueing the rears:

Thanks a mill to everyone who contributed to this thread.

Here's a final pic showing both stops right way up and where to cut:
