Another newbie ( Pt 2)

Featured Replies

Dear All,

Reference my previous thread whereby my new VRS ground to a halt.

The car is now back.According to the garage the air intake had blown apart due to incorrect factory assembly and as a result a report is to be sent to Skoda incase their are other VRS's with this fault.

The dealership have used parts from their latest unused/unsold VRS demonstrator to get mine up and running again and for the first time I can understand what all the fuss is about!!!..

My turbo must have been sucking in too much air from day 1.

A few questions for you VRS owners if you please - .

1.Ive covered just over 1,000 miles, when will it be run in ?.

2.How long will it take before the engine starts to loosen up ?.

3.Iam told that you can get the VRS" Chipped".Where can this be done and how much does is cost???.

Thanks,

Bob

Good news, Bob, but what was the clattering noise you heard, and what about the cam belt pulley? Have a look in My Performance for discussion about chipping/tuning.

dealer told me 1000 miles was enough of a run-in so get busy with yer right foot ! :D

the clattering must have been the turbo and the cam/timing belt stuff was the air intake wrapped up in it (it was right at the bottom left of the engine block so it was hard to see -access is via one of the panels underneath).

BTW It might be worth your while to ask your dealer to check the retention clip on your turbo intake to see if yours is fitted correctly!
