a small turbocharger on a 98 1.3lx felly?

Featured Replies

i just want to know if it is possible without much trouble because me and my uncle are maybe going to try and get it done on my felly...also if you know where i could get a small turbine for my felly...please some recommendations and it would be really good if the seller could send to iceland....

I guess you would need..

Turbo (obviously)

Manifold

Downpipe

Something to drop the CR (spacer plate?)

Pipe work

Intercooler

Injectors?

ECU

Boost controller if not part of above.

uh...what is "cr"...and why would it need "dropping"?

compression ratio.

but if you have the 135 low-comp engine, you shouldnt need much more than a little material to be removed. that would lower the CR.

have a look at the project journals page. there is a chap who is in the middle of a turbo conversion.

From what? Pistons or combustion chamber?

would have to look see.

where ever ther is space

if you're using a low blow turbo, say around 4 or 5 psi, as long as you've got the fueling you'd maybe not need to drop the c/r.

what about a supercharger? something like that found on a Mini Cooper? lol

how do i know what engine is in my felly? i have a 1997 felly with a 1.3mpi engine ??

your engine number has a 135 or 136 in it. wither on the block by the waterpump, or, handily, in your logbook/v5.

anyway....do you know where i can buy/order a turbine/supercharger for my felicia?

ebay

what type/size turbo do we need?

hi

i am in the middle of turbo-ing the same engine (well mine came from a carbed fav)

if you went low blow (5 psi ish) then upping the fuel pressure may be all that is required, however you will need all sorts of other bits like exhaust manifold or adaptor, some form of intercooler and some way of mating to the existing throttle body.

It may be possible to install larger injectors to help with fuel, but i would strongly suggest a wide band lambda sensor and a fuel/air ratio guage to make sure the engine is not running lean!! lean is bad mmmkay!!

aparently the pistons have a large enough crown to have then machined if you wanted more booost!

i also wondered about removing some material from the squish area to aid lowering the compresssion ratio!

it is possible, but will require a fair wadge of cash to do it properly, and the money may be better spent on cams, exhaust as machining the head to go for a hot N/A engine setup!

as for the turbo, a garrett t25 is what i have chosen and looks like its a good size!

do lots of research because if you do it wrong, then by by engine!

what about installing different engine, I know that a 2ltr vauxhall 'redtop' engine can be fitted without too many headaches, and 160bhp can be had really really easily! more reliable and much more likely to give you good results!

Thanks Lewis (lewist123)...i might just search for a vauxhall engine for my felicia....
