Problems

Featured Replies

Please dont flame me on this one, i know theres been lots of threads on this, i did search. But there seems to be no clarification on my issue.

All of a sudden my airbag light? (man with seatbelt on) has started appearing, i havent been in an accident or tampered with anything (apart from changing a fuse). It comes on when i start the car, flashes, then stays on.

At first i thought i had knocked a fuse, but according to VRS Stu's and the manuals fuse layout there is no fuse for the airbag (am i wrong?). I thought has the weight sensor in the seat gone (is there one) had a look under the seat and there are no loose wires. It is something to do with the seatbelt tensioners? I looked in the manual and it states the light is something to do with the passenger airbag, though my car doesnt have a passenger airbag (2000 1.4mpi classic).

Does my car need to go to the dealers for VAG com?

Also why do these things happen when i want to sell it? apparantly i also need a new steering rack, and there rear axle bushes need replacing, this is going to cost me the earth!

Sorry if theres too many questions, any help would be appreciated.

The man with the seatbelt iss the seatbelt warning.

Has the clip come undone underneath the drivers seat ???

No seatbelt warning feature on the Furby though so it must be the airbag circuit throwing a double six.

hi rock -

on your steering column (which is adjustable ) there is situated a sensor ring which can activate your airbag warning light -

try releasing and pulling your steering wheel up and down once or twice as dust can collect between the sensor and the column - might just make your little light disappear

Sorry to resurrect an old thread - but it proves i searched. I had exactly this problem on my 2000 octy today. The Airbag light came on (the one with the man looking like he's about to smash his face into an orange ball!

Anyone advise on what steps to take to solve it?

Get the fault codes read and go from there.
