Cruise control

Featured Replies

Greetings. I'd like to put cruise control in my 02 plate Octavia VRS and from what I understand all that is required is the cruise control stalk and then just activate the feature within the ECU using VAG COM. Is this correct or does anything else need to be done? Reason I ask, is I have come across a cruise control stalk and and was wandering if some nice briskodian with vag com could do the computer wizardry bit if I did the fiddly fitting the stalk bit?:D Very willing to pay cash, beer, whatever!

I think you need to make up an extra loom for it as well.

No doubt Stu will be along soon to confirm it for you

need to run a few wires directly into the ecu, using appropriate connectors, quite a pain, easy if you know what your doing, its not direct plug and play, did it on my last vrs, but i did have access to a vag wiring repair kit and all wiring diagrams

Can't you get a kit from Skoda for the VRS?, we got one a month or so ago for a 1.9 diesel, it had full instructions and cost around £60.

I had my cruise control fitted by a Skoda dealer in Liverpool. It cost around £200 because the petrol models don’t have loom for the cruise, but the diesels do. Also by paying a little more with the main dealer I get warranty.

Hmmm, nothing's ever simple is it? Cheers anyway guys.

Yes you do need to run a cable directly to the ECU, it's fiddly but not at all impossible. It does mean removing the wipers and wiper motor to get at the bulkhead connectors that are up behind the dash.

You should be able to do it if you take your time - Plenty of people local to Oxford who can do the VAG-COM for you.

i take it that this cable is a special one just for the purpose of cruise control in an octavia vrs? How available is said cable?

Go to a dealer and ask them for the kit for your car.
