But its only a badge??

Featured Replies

trouble with all is those satisfaction surveys is that the results often come down to owner's perceptions; many Skoda drivers look at it that they've actually got an Audi or VW at a "bargain" price, which is fine until they begin looking down on people in an Audi an VW for not being as clever as they were and buying a Skoda instead - that type of Skoda owner is every bit as bad as the type of Audi/VW/BMW owner who looks down on people who drive "normal" cars

I have nothing to prove, least of all to you.

But you never know, our track paths may cross, so youll be able to eat my exhaust fumes :D:rofl:

Heres a veiw from the person who was hanging on for dear life when we went out with the dedicated track cars in garys SE.

The 205s couldnt catch us and we were slowly edging away from them. Garys car shifts very well, you got to have some serious mods if you think your gunner beat that headcase (sorry gary but i am affraid you are abit crazy, going out with the track cars) ;):rofl:

Mad as a box of frogs!

I actually prefere talented,but hey i'll take whatever i can get :rofl::rofl:
This survey covers all aspects of owning and running the cars, from an owners point of view.

And this is its biggest downfall. Each entry of the survey will be a view relative to that person's experience/ownership of cars, rather than an independent comparison with other cars so most of the results are meaningless imho.

For long term reliability I tend to use the Warranty Direct survey, but even then that's not 100% accurate because it's only based on the vehicles WD have experience with, which would probably focus more on the ex-fleet cars of 3 years and above, although my experiences of the Fabia and Mondeo seem to be accurately reflected on there.

I am proud that my car sports a Skoda badge.

and judging from what people say its a reworked Favorit with a VW engine. I bought it cause i needed a car, it was cheap, had a VW engine and reminded me of the Mk2 golf cause of the shape.

But deep down its got character and I love it :D

Badge snobs don't know what they are missing and in truth it is their loss.

My cousin wanted an Audi until he drove a Fabia.

What are badge snobs missing?!

Let people buy what they want , is what I say!

Skoda is a good brand , (anyone who has seen the Steam Locomotives the plant in Plzen put out wouldnt say they look rubbish compared to the British locos of that era, for example) Also Laurin & Kement cars won hillclimbs , sprints and road races back in the early 20th century , some of them even set speed records around Brooklands. As for the 'Commy' era cars , they did the best they could given the resources availible to them 'behind the Iron Curtain'. If you look at Skodas of the early 60s compared to the equivalent Renault / VW etc of the day , the cars were very similar in style and equipment , had Czechosovakia been a 'Western' country and Skoda had plenty of money to invest in their range , then the cars would have evolved sililar to the other mainstream European marques. I think the British are a bit set in their ways , when something is seen to have a 'stigma' attached to it , then it is quite difficult to change the collective publics mind.
