Aahh...

I quite like the underdog status.
I am proud its got a SKODA badge

Agree with both :D

It's all down to personal preference & thats the bottom line! There is a certain snobbery attached to some badges but as much as i think it'd be wrong to criticize a person for buying a Skoda, i'd still say the same about criticizing someone who clearly favours Audi's or any other manufacturer!

I agree that the quality of the interior is better in the Audi but in my opinion not £3000+ better but again that's just my opinion!

As much as i just laugh to myself when someone make some silly comment about my car being a Skoda i do think the respect would be better earned just silently going about your business rather than trying to convince people who have their own opinions & have clearly made their minds up on said cars as to the quality of it!

Variety is the spice of life & all that is i guess what i'm trying to say!

I must admit given the choice I'd definately have an A4 . . . as much as I like my Octy, I prefer the styling a LOT more, both inside and out. I think there are some nicer quality materials (at least they feel and look that way) in the Audi's too. On the flipside, I am sure that driving a Skoda seems to make people act less aggressively towards you on the road as they don't tend to stereotype against Skodas (at least not yet . . . perhaps this will change if/when the old-fashioned image of the Skoda badge changes and hence the typical owner changes too?).

Agreed about the Audi 90 - A friend has a 15 year old one with the 90bhp 1.9tdi and it's a bombproof car. I almost bought it off him 2 years ago, but it's a works car for him (he's a plumber) so the interior isn't the best looked after and the car has done 170,000 miles. Still running pretty good though! :)

all i'm gonna say is today out of 30 odd imprezza's,dedicated track cars (205's stripped caged and sporting mi16v engines)stripped mk 2 golf track cars,a ctr,an integra type r(dc2)and god knows what else,on track with me today,NOTHING caught me,or passed me and i passed all who were in front, and that included the track specials,so before giving it:rolleyes: with your st,if it had been on track today i would have destroyed it,open invite to anyone who wants a pop, anytime any place,if you don't turn up to these events please refrain from guessing your motor is better, and if you do turn up,prepare to be humbled:thumbup:

Some of the audis are better put together than the skodas. They are not completely the same ;)

Its true when VAG order a million bolts they then order a seperate million which are made slightly different and crapper for skoda's

I'm not trying to prove anything, just when you post up i'm dreaming, they let me past ect winds me up a little,i know what me and my fabia can do,we do see one or two dreamers on here,i assure you i am not one of them,my car is proper fast round a track, this is what it has been modded for,I will be on many track days in the future, tho there was a mk 1 octy vrs couldn't keep up at silverstone last year, and that was when my car was standard.

Nail..... head......

I've had BMW's and a Jag in the past and love the understated nature of my VRS as it never fails to impress. My Jag and BM's always felt a bit of a let down as they had the odd rattle etc... and because of the hype I was expceting motoring perfection.

For me, there is nothing more satisfying than having a base/middle spec Passat or A4 stuck up your ****, putting your foot down and watching them disapear into the background...

And before some of your have a go... my ideal motor (having a kid and a dog).... an RS4 Avant :)

My dad is bigger than your dad.... ner ner ner ner ner!!!!

Come on guys i've checked your profiles & there is no excuse? It's not like you are 17 years of age or something? Leave it for the track if other parts of your anatomy let you down?

Only having a laugh!!

You'll have to post up your trackday calendar as I would love to see you & your Very special edition Fabia in action...

it might be a badge, but has vw and audi parts inside (look at the engine) im not fussed about the badge as its still built like a vw or audi but without all the useless fancy silly red lights etc.

And to top it off the skoda won this years car thingy in auto express, nuff said i reckon!!

its well known that driving tracks on a computer game has no relation to tracks in your car.

Im sure i'll be at a few UK track days at some point - I cba with going to the ring, besides, I dont even have a passport LOL

:) I'm very proud of the Skoda badge on my cars. People say to me that Skoda cars are very good now that VW own them [which is very true], but I do feel quite proud when I point out that actually my cars are built using only Skoda parts, are two decades or so old and STILL being used as daily drivers!

Skoda drivers are kidding themselves if they truly believe that it's only the badge that makes a difference between different manufacturers. There's a lot of inverse snobbery from Skoda owners which is almost as misguided as the traditional badge snobbery seen by drivers of premium vehicles.

Of all the cars I've driven, I was always impressed by the look and feel of the Fabia interior but both of mine rattled more than any other car I've owned; the list has now extended to an ancient Volvo, a 99 Civic and an 04 Mondeo. When buying my most recent vehicle I had hoped to stay in the Skoda fold but all the mark one Octavias I drove felt pretty poor build quality-wise compared to the Mk3 Mondeos

Obviously it's a case of diminishing returns when you start spending serious money on cars; double the price doesn't get you a car that is twice as 'good'. Similarly, people who discount lower cost brands just because of the badge are indeed a little blinkered. However, perhaps some Skoda owners need to realise that there are people out there with money who have looked at a Skoda, VW and Audi and simply do feel that the Audi looks and feels better quality. Perhaps they're buying these expensive cars because they do think it's a better car and not just a better badge. Surely that's their decision?

In the Auto Express Driver Power Survey 2008, of all the VAG products, the 2004 onwards Octavia came 1st.Next VAG product was the Golf IV in 16th, next was the Audi A6 in 22nd, A3 in 23rd.Seats new Leon was down in 43rd.

This survey covers all aspects of owning and running the cars, from an owners point of view. Its not just this survey that Skoda always come out on top in, just look at JD Power etc.

Given a choice, I'd have a new Octavia over an A3 or a Golf or a Leon/Toledo anyday - purely because I want a Skoda, I dont like Audi's - they are too 'clinical', VW's I think are overpriced when compared to a Skoda - and yes, Skodas are built better, read the countless roadtest reports - and Seats don't appeal to me at all.

Also, when you look where Ford finished with the Mondeo (49th) and Focus (25th), and vauxhall new Vectra (69th) and New Astra (70th), it begs the question 'Why do people still buy these by the bucketsfull?'

It appears from the survey that the bottom 5 manufacturers - Chevrolet, Fiat, Peugeot, Vauxhall and Renault should all provide squirrels to new owners of their cars - to collect all the nuts as they fall off!
